I’ll start by saying that I’m reviewing the Pointu mostly on my experience of their weekend brunch.

Though I’ve come here a few times for drinks (which were enjoyable, though service a tad slow), brunch is really where they shine. Not only because the food absolutely delicious, which is key, but also thanks to the creative chefs, who put together menus that have slightly different offerings than your traditional brunch spots (e.g bacon scones, brunch bun). More than that, they revamp the menu every few months, which though perhaps unsettling for the creature comfort lot, allows regulars to explore who new worlds of brunch foods. What more could you want?

The interior design is cosy and slightly alternative and the large communale table in the middle allows for a relaxed atmosphere.

In terms of pricing, this pretty much aligned with Swiss standards - maddeningly overpriced BUT totally in line with all other...

Arrived for brunch around 1pm on a Sunday without a reservation and we were warmly welcomed and offered a window seat.l, which was fine. Our order was taken promptly. We ordered 2 plates of French toast and bacon, a side of pancakes, a flat white, a fresh oranges, and a Mimosa. The food arrived quickly and looked great. The coffee was good, the orange freshly squeezed and sweet and the Mimosa nicely strong with alcohol. Unfortunately the food was pretty disappointing. The french toast was bland and didnt really taste of anything. The pancakes were better but nothing to write home about. All in all a fairly average experience we won't be rushing back to repeat. Prices are average for Switzerland. Go...

Lausanne can be a bit stale when it comes to restaurants and bars. This place turns that fact on its head. Le Pointu is easily my favorite restaurant/bar. Despite its hipster appeal, it throws down "actual" good food and a friendly atmosphere. I have had four different dishes on the menu and I wanted to hug the chef after every meal. You will too.

What I really love about this place is the friendly staff. They are attentive and genuenly nice. I always feel valued and well respected even after the 3rd bottle of wine or beer #7.

The prices are fair for the location. They have good local beers on tap and a decent wine selection.

If your hungry or just want to hang out, this place is top of the...

I was astonished that the place offers such an average espresso macchiato for 3.90 CHF (or 4.40€). This is clearly an overcharge, especially when you can enjoy far better coffee elsewhere in the Alps (Italy, Austria, and Germany) for half the price. On a more positive note, I had my first French toast here, and it was simply exquisite. The homemade bread was perfectly fluffy and crispy, and my supplemental poached egg (2.50 CHF) was flawless. However, the cinnamon apple compote topping, while possibly subject to change, didn’t quite work for me. It slightly overshadowed the otherwise perfect dish. Thankfully, the mascarpone, maple syrup, and the French toast itself were all excellent.
