Best rated on Tripadvisor so we had to visit. And what an amazing time we had. Start to finish this was one of my favourite meals in all of Switzerland, and perhaps just generally anywhere.
We had the pleasure of being served by Norman - a man who really cares for his guests with effortless ease. Clearly skilled and experienced, he made us feel so welcome and as we got chatting through the evening it was lovely to hear about his experiences whilst he made excellent recommendations for both food and drink. He is a credit to the industry - great service is a skill and one Norman exudes with such ease.
The food is unquestionably great. So good, we came back 3 days later before flying home, just to squeeze in another visit. The burgers are superb - the chicken burger on our first visit was up there with the best, and the waffle burger on the second visit was absolutely HUGE (I couldn't finish it, and I'm no slouch at knocking back a lot food). In Switzerland - and Luzern especially - eating out can be expensive. The prices here are so reasonable for VERY generous portions. However, I must say the tacos are one of the best things I've eaten ever and are a MUST try. Halfway between soft & hard shell, homemade to perfection - the beef taco was a triumph in comfort food crossed with fine dining, the beef slow cooked to the point it is so rich it makes you beyond happy. We had them all over again on the 2nd visit and asked for a portion of just beef. 1 month on, and I'm still dreaming of how good they are. Every little touch is great - salads brightened with raspberry balsamic, amazing homemade garlic, BBQ and mango chili sauces, great craft beer, delicious wine, and an awesome laid back & modern vibe.
On our first visit, we were lucky to meet Miruna, who we mistakenly thought was a young waitress (whoops!) as she quietly served guests. How wrong we were - Miruna and her sister Ilinca are the inspirational owners who have set up this wonderful, passionate restaurant in the competitive food haven of Luzern and have quickly established a first-class business despite the challenges of launching during Covid restrictions. In a couple of years, they've built a brilliant, tight-knit team of truly skilled staff, serving some of the best food we found in all of Switzerland and they deserve the high ratings they receive. As we enjoyed shots at the bar with them all at the end of the first night (and after Ilinca even came down from her flat at the end of the night to say hello to us!), taking polaroid pictures and exchanging phone numbers, we knew we'd be back a few days later and we know we'll visit again one day if we find ourselves in town. We came home with 3 bottles of their in-house homemade sauces (another triumph) which survived the flight back to the UK and are sat proudly in our fridge as a warm reminder of our favourite night of dining out. We hope to see them all again - Miruna, Ilinca, Norman and Florien. Thank you team for...
Read moreWe had lunch there recently because we were shopping in the neighborhood. I ordered Salmon Poke Bowl. I managed to eat a bit of rice, but it was simply too hard to chew. The cook failed completely here for this dish. I didn't complain because we just want to have a quiet and quick meal. The rice used is purple/black rice. That was nice because I had expected just normal white rice. The rice was cooked and toasted, I suppose. But it was quite a bit over-toasted and therefore very hard to chew. The waiter did swing by to ask whether everything is okay. But he was only doing his routine and showed no true sincerity. Later, when he took away the food, he could have asked why there are so many rices left. But he didn't. As I am writing this, this reminded me of many years ago when I ate at a nice American restaurant in the USA. I think the price level is of somewhat similar to Antons. It was also a lunch. I ordered a salad topped with beef slices. To my dismay, the whole salad is more or less all rocket leaves, which I don't enjoy. I probably didn't notice that in the menu. As rocket leaves have a few other names. So I had to order another dish, when I did, the waiter asked me why. I told him the truth. When I got the bill, I was very pleasantly surprised that they didn't charge me the salad I ordered at the first place. I think the salad was like 25 USD and the year was in 2000. And they didn't even tell me about it. They just did. Now that is a...
Read moreAhhh! Incredible experience. I’ll start by saying the service was extremely friendly and personable. After a day of walking around in the rain, it was nice to be in a cozy, welcoming location. We’ve been in europe for 3 weeks and were really craving a burger. The wagyu burger did the job and then some. The meat was incredibly juicy and tasty and the fluffy brioche bun had me questioning why any other bread would ever be used in a burger. My husband got the onion rings and I the sweet potato fries, both great but the three homemade sauces they came with were the stars: garlic mayo, bacon bbq, and watermelon sauce. Wowwww! Had to order a second round of sauces and those got cleaned out as well. We didn’t want the burger experience to end and considered splitting a third burger for dessert, but in the end, we went with an additional round of drinks including a dessert cocktail recommended by Flo (SOO good, I wish I remembered what it was called but I was already a couple old fashions deep) and the banana ice cream brownie with a marshmallow fluff top which was torched at the table. All in all, this was a fantastic experience. In fact, one of our favorite spots this trip. From service to ambiance to flavor, this place really had it all. Don’t...
