tl;dr Food is good. Go for it. Make sure to order some drinks too.
We got an uncomfortable stare when we chose not to order any drinks including still or sparkling bottled water. We drank from our own bottle and was told verbatim "Not to be rude, but you shouldn't drink your own water if you don't order any drinks." In a country where clean potable water is so ubiquitous that no one ever has to worry about water, is it really necessary to fuss over.... water? Is it a social norm that hospitality is reserved only for people who order bottled water or drinks?
Food wise, the ceviche is great. It is wrapped in leaves and served warm, definitely something I have not tried before. The acidity and seasoning is well balanced. The other starters are really good too. The duck entree is cooked perfectly, and served on a bed of delicious potato and corn. I can see why some people really enjoy dining at Pikante, and I would too if I wasn't bothered by another stare we got when we ordered only 1 entree instead of 2?
If the goal is to ensure some minimum spending per person , make it explicit by implementing cover charges or setting a minimum order like min 1 entree per person (and displaying it in the menu). Or just make dining more enjoyable so that guests order more and stay for dessert instead of trying to leave the...
Read moreLuzern is a beautiful city, teeming with a confluence of architectural styles, outdoor activities and lodging options to provide a world class experience for its unending flood of visiting tourists from around the globe. All of which makes it difficult to explain why the restaurant scene is relatively limited. Aside from the typical âSwissâ offerings for meat and cheese lovers, there is a surprising lack of diversity and creativity when it comes to the available cuisine.
Fortunately, for those brave enough to veer off the tourist track, a wonderful dining experience awaits at the restaurant Pikante. A small but tastefully designed space exudes a warm welcome, paying homage to the cuisine of Peru. Authentic ceviches, along with the perfectly prepared and balanced Pisco Sours, are just the start of a wonderful dining experience. The menu is diverse, the wine and cocktail lists are strong, and the food lives up to its reputation. All of which is delivered with grace and enthusiasm by a well trained and capable staff operating (and often assisted) by the attentive hostess Sandra Silva. We were surprised at how quickly three hours passed at Pikante. Itâs just that good. The fact the it also is reasonable in its pricing is just dulce on the pastel! WORTH EVERY ONE OF...
Read moreThis is a hidden gem in Lucerne. My partner and I tried peruvian food here for the first time and we left more than satisifed. High quality food, attentive staff and a cozy ambience. The food was presented in a very elegant way - it was more than a casual dinner, it was a whole experience. We started with their Maki Sushi Acevichado and it was just delicious. The fried calamari on top served with the sauce had such a unique and vibrant taste. As the main course we had the Pescado y Marisco a lo Macho, 10/10. It offers a variety of different sea food and fish served with rice. Everything tasted so good and fresh. Each plate was put together with a lot of detail. As desert we had the Chefâs selection, which was a pear cooked in red wine filled with Pistachio and Mascarpone. You tasted the red wine pretty good but we liked it a lot, we just wished there was a bit more of the filling inside. For the starters and the main courses (two of each), one dessert, two glasses of wine and a bottle of still water we spent 180 CHF. The prices were very fair for the portions you receive. All together it was a great experience. Weâll be back soon....
