It was very unfortunate that I had a similar experience as some of the users here.
I went to this bakery on Friday 3rd August 2018 between 11 and 12pm with my husband and 4 young kids. I’m Chinese and do not speak French beyond the basic “bonjour” and “merci”.
I entered the bakery, greeted the lady behind the counter with “bonjour”, and was greeted with a cold face. No expression, no response. I tried to order our items as quickly as possible (some a la carte items plus a set of panini, dessert and drink). The set menu is completely in french, so you got to take a guess on what they are. I’d always appreciated French baked goods so it wasn’t difficult to take guesses, but there was no help from the cashier, who by now was somewhat annoyed by how slow we were (we were really not that slow at all).
Throughout our brief 30 minutes or so in the bakery, there were multiple French-speaking customers whom the cashier interacted with and even share a couple of jokes with (she was laughing).
I’m glad that she enjoyed her work, but this establishment doesn’t seem to be very friendly towards Asians (I think some people tend to categorize this clump of many countries within the east and south East asia into one category of Asians). It is unfortunate that she might have had bad experience(s) with people of our race, but it is not ok to treat us...
Read moreIf you are Asian like me, I recommend you don’t go to this shop. The staff here is So Impolite and rude to us.
25.Feb.2019 (around 14h40) 12.May.2019 (around 19h25) I also came few times at the afternoon in February and March but I have forgotten the exact date and time.
The staff don’t even say bonjour ( I say that every time but they don’t reply) and with the long face. The worst experience is happened on 12 May 2019. Is the first time I ordered for « Too good to go ». It was my fault for forgotten to bring my own bag or box. I was sorry that and i was willing to pay for a bag. The staff was so rude and impolite. She said « this time I can give you a bag. Next time if you don’t have a bag , you have to take the breads by your hands » (She said that in french). After she packed the breads for me, she said « c’est tout bon pour moi »with a long face. She didn’t even handed me the bag. I felt so bad.
I am Chinese and many of my Asian friends have the same impression with me. I also saw few comments with one star ranking were from the Asians. If it is really a discrimination, I will be so disappointed. Your shop is opposite to the train station ad there is so many tourists in Montreux. If they just arrived and they go to your shop. The first impression of Switzerland for them...
Read moreExtremely rude staff, asked for 2 coffees without telling them the type and she hastily turned around and started pushing buttons on a machine. Several times I said “excuse me” and she just ignored me. When she turned back around I told her I wanted two macchiatos and she said “you only asked for two coffees” with a lot of attitude.
I tried to drink it but I couldn’t and took it back and asked her to make what I originally asked for and she expected me to pay for two more coffee due to her sub-par service. We copped attitude with every interaction with her and then she accused me of being rude, I was upset with her poor level of service, not being rude, there is a difference. They rile you up then play the victim.
This staff member has a clear hate for tourists which is not great for a business opposite a long distance train station in a tourist town. even a place with the worst customer service in Australia would’ve re-made the coffee when they saw their error, but this woman is never...
