It was a really nice restaurant a couple of years ago and became a real disappointment lately. We've already experienced problems with grilled dishes which looked and tasted rather as steamed, and that's for grilled salmon and grilled calamari...
Then we thought that pizza cannot be wrong in a pizzeria and asked for a smaller size pizza. The result was a clearly same amount of raw dough shaped into a smaller circle, so that we got a small but thick pizza with a hill of ingredients.
An easy pasta Alla Italiana was just disappointing: dry penne, some pasta water with tomato at the bottom, rucola and buffalo mozzarella dry on top.
The worst was the Nutella mouse dessert: one of us was waiting for at least 10 mins after all others got their desserts - to receive a deep bowl of cut strawberries merciless drawn in Nutella. Not any mousse, just 100% pure Nutella out of the bottle. We though kitchen did something wrong (by forgetting to do the mousse) and asked the waiter to verify whether the dessert is supposed to be that way. He returned with confirmation that pure Nutella is the mousse. Allegedly, "many guests complimented this dish". It was not striped from the bill although returned to the kitchen.
We loved the place before and gave it 2 more tries after the first disappointing dish. Unfortunately, we see that food and service both deteriorated irreversibly and we will not...
Read moreDelicious food, great service and vibe!!! I’ve became very picky about what i eat in the past 10 years (mostly plant based fresh food with some additional meat and/or fish). Finding a place to eat and enjoy my food during my frequent travels is a real challenge so from my perspective Molino was a really rare find!!! I’ve been eating at Molino for three days in the row already having a super tender grilled chicken breast and massive amounts of fresh and tasty mixed salad. Exactly the food i need, superb according to my standards. Service is great, my host Jtandra was very polite, attentive and helpfull. He swifty took care of all details while managing many other tables. Altough the dishes i ordered can be regarded as ‘simple’ my expectations/requirements make them much more complex. The restaurant has a really good vibe, pleasant overall atmosphere. I definitely plan to visit Molino...
Read moreEver since Molino became bigger and went down the franchise path, somehow it changed. It was more mainstream, more 'basic'. Nevertheless, when we found a Molino in Winterthur, we wanted to give it a go, because we were craving some 'simple' food (e.g. tomato soup for our son).
Look, the whole experience was completely fine, but it really was nothing special. In fact, service was partially nice and then with a new person taking over, it was more unfriendly.
The food tasted well enough for my wife, however mine was not good (I had the innovative bruschetta trio mix). I didn't like it, because I think they overdid the creative part and out of 3, 2 were really meh.
So, look, our score is probably closer to 3.5, but in this instance we decided to rate it rather down, as it is also not 'that cheap' to justify the above. It's OK and so are we...
