Manager forced us to pay for half of my meal, after I took one bite of a vegetarian burrito that came out as a soggy, cheese-drenched mess with cold, raw vegetables inside. I sent it back immediately, because it was inedible and raw on the inside. Never in my life have I heard of a restaurant charging customers for half their meal, when they had a legitimate issue with the food they barely touched.
My date tried to reason with the manager, who immediately got defensive and cut him off, saying, “Well of course the vegetables might still be cold. We could have reheated it for her." Reheated what, exactly? A ruined, soggy burrito? How exactly would that have made it any less repulsive?
None of it made sense. He wasn’t listening, wasn’t interested in resolving anything—just doubling down on excuses.
After we left, someone must have pointed out that I had ordered another meal afterwards (which was also terrible, but at least safe to eat), and he had a waitress run after us to give back the money for the other half of the uneaten burrito. Of course the waitress did it—not the manager. No apology from him, no accountability, no attempt at basic decency. He just hid in the back and sent someone else to clean up his mess.
Never going back. Absolutely nothing about the food was “authentic,” let alone edible. And yes, I’ll be passing this experience along to my colleagues at Theater Winterthur.
Edit: I posted this two years ago and as you can see, I never received so much as an apology. Still stands as one of the most absurd, unprofessional experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The way this was handled was just flat-out embarrassing,...
Read moreI'm not mexican, so I can't attest to its authenticity, but I can tell you that I enjoyed my time spent there.
Lunch times are very busy and the tables in summertime pretty much all occupied. The restaurant is unpretentious with very friendly staff. After placing our orders my mates and I had to wait quite a while, - better make sure you have plenty of time and no urgent appointment that can wait soon afterwards.
I ordered the day menu which was stroganoff with 'Spätzle'. The beef stripes were drenched in a spicy gravy and I had the choice between soup (banana, woah!) or salad, I picked salad because I don't want my hips to suffer later on from my food adventures.

Read moreAlthough earlier the restaurant would have gotten a better review from me, the recent changes in the restaurant make it a bit harder to recommend. Upon entry we were greeted with menu's with an extremely small selection; compared to previous visits, the menu had become a lot smaller. After asking about the change, I was handed the old, full menu; weird, that the full menu is not given unless asked for.
Otherwise, the service was ok and the food was pretty good. Due to how expensive the restaurant is, however, I do not recommend the trip unless you absolutely need Mexican food...
