Villa Duchessa Ristorante Pizzeria — Restaurant in Winterthur

A really nice Italian restaurant in Winterthur with classic chic. A small thing, but I really appreciated the lit candle (lunch time) on the table on this thoroughly grey and gloomy day in January. The grand shiny piano in the center of the "sala" and the cristal chandelier did not let arise any depressive thoughts. Time to celebrate good food and company. The menu offers a broad variety of pasta and pizza. Nice classics. We didn't choose any secondi. A smaller range but also nice classic choice of meat and fish and seafood was however on the menu - completed by a daily offer. My husband's pizza, dough and topping was luscious. And so was my plate of spaghetti marinara. The house made tiramisu, a combi of creamy and fluffy richness a worthy final act of a lovely meal Excellent service. Very friendly and attentive in an relaxed manner. It seems, that the staff is happy with each other which pervades the whole atmosphere. Lovely...

Am vergangenen Donnerstag besuchte ich die Villa Duchessa zum Mittagessen. Aufgrund der vielen positiven Bewertungen hätte ich hier das beste italienische Restaurant in Winterthur entdecken können. Leider wurde ich beim Betreten nicht freundlich empfangen, und da ich allein war, wies man mir einen Tisch in der hintersten Ecke zu. Obwohl er am Fenster lag, bot die Aussicht lediglich einen Blick auf die Wand eines benachbarten Technikraums – eher trist. Ich entschied mich für das Menü 3 zum Preis von CHF 28.00. Dieses begann mit einem grünen Salat, der anscheinend schon früh am Morgen zubereitet worden war. Die Schnittflächen waren unansehnlich, dass ich sie entfernen musste. Dazu wurden vier (Pizzateig-)Brötchen gereicht – eine stattliche Menge für eine Person. Das von mir gewählte Brötchen war knusprig und geschmacklich erfreulich. Nach dem Abräumen durch einen recht wortkargen Kellner brachte ein anderer Kellner, der freundlicher und gesprächiger war, den Hauptgang: Polpette an Tomatensauce mit Nudeln. Die Nudeln waren allerdings stark mit Olivenöl übergossen, das einen fettigen und leicht metallischen Geschmack hatte, der mir überhaupt nicht zusagte. Die Polpette und die Tomatensauce waren solide, aber keinesfalls herausragend. Auf die Deko-Petersilie, welche leider keinen frischen Eindruck machte, hätte ich gerne verzichtet. Als Nachspeise gab es, im Preis inbegriffen, eine süss-zitronige Masse, deren klebrige und zähe Konsistenz mir nicht gefiel. Erfreulicherweise wurde sie von einem Espresso begleitet, der ausgezeichnet war. Insgesamt war mein Besuch von Höhen und Tiefen geprägt. Das kulinarische Erlebnis konnte mich leider...

Pizza was great but it took 40 minutes. Other people that arrived after us received the pizza much earlier.

Service in general totally overwhelmed on a Friday evening. You get 1 chance to order the food and the drink. The rest of the evening they will walk past your empty glasses without giving you a chance to order.

Tiramisu was very good but they forgot 1 spoon. It never arrived so I used the small coffee spoon.

The staff speaks Italian and they are friendly. Also they give you a complementary digestive.l and coffee...
