A Place to Collect Disappointment

The food was mediocre, or perhaps below average. I ordered vongole pasta, but it was disappointing. The pasta didn’t absorb the sauce and was bland. The clams weren’t properly cleaned—I kept encountering sand and grit while eating.

As for the service, it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. An Italian restaurant should never provide such terrible service. Or perhaps your staff was discriminatory toward someone dining alone.

When I walked into the restaurant and requested a table for one, I was seated immediately without any wait. However, nearly 10 minutes after settling in, no one gave me a menu or came to take my order. I noticed the table next to me being served, so I waited, hoping the waiter would notice me. But instead, he left immediately after serving them.

I tried looking around for assistance, but no staff were nearby. Eventually, the same waiter returned to serve wine to the table next to me, so I took the opportunity to politely ask for a menu. To my surprise, he didn’t even look at me and rudely responded, “I’m working now; you have to wait.” I was speechless. He never came back with a menu or asked anyone else to assist me.

Eventually, a lady came to clear the table next to mine, and I finally managed to ask her for a menu and place my order. Despite this, the rude waiter never returned to my table. Instead, he repeatedly checked on the customers seated next to me and prioritized other guests who arrived after me—they even received their food before I did.

The waiter, who was bald and without glasses, left a disgusting impression. I felt deeply uncomfortable seeing him fawning over the other customers while completely ignoring me. Perhaps I wasn’t within his “respected service zone,” but I am still a customer.

An impressive italian restaurant in the center of Zurich. The atmosphere around is absolutely amazing. I ordered Pici Ragout and Veal escalope; it’s beyond my expectations. The veal is so tender and ragout is perfect

“But” the staff outside the restaurant is quite not impressive. When I arrived at the restaurant, I forgot to greet him (like Hello, how are you?) and I just said “table for 2 please”. His face expression seemed to be unhappy with my words and he ignored my words and said “Hello, How are you” with a stressed sound as if he wanted me to know that he wanted me to greet him first before asking for table. I am so sorry for that, sir. So sorry for not greeting your staff first. But it doesn’t mean I deserved that unhappy face expression from him. I am a tourist and your customer. This is my first time and my first day in Zurich. How can I know? If I come back again, I will have more etiquette with your staff more (especially greeting him first). But please don’t do this with other customers because sometimes they just don’t know about this. It’s quite rude for someone. I just want to complain the staff outside the restaurant but the staff inside is fine. He was nice and kind. His service was undeniably impressive.

Also, I asked for sitting outside but he provided me inside instead by giving the reason like It’s fully booked outside. But I still saw him inviting other guests to sit outside and saw many available tables. I would be appreciated if you please clarify me about this situation.

Everyone is running which is upsetting if you're trying to eat. The personnel are helpful whenever they need to be, but not experienced.They don't even take the time to listen.They run,run ,run...It was disturbing.They brought things on our table that we didn't order and then got upset that they had to take it back. Except one gentleman with grey hair from Rome.He was very polite and even tried to have small talk with my son. That's the spirit I know from our Italian neighbours. The dishes were really low on taste and finesse .I have eaten in many Italian restaurants around Europe and of course in Italy.This was my worst experience in a kitchen that I admire and love.The dishes were bland and tasteless. I ordered the pasta with clams. They serve it in white pasta and a soup of water.No taste rather than garlic. Garlic ,garlic and then garlic.Clams were also tasteless. They didn't even bother to give a plate to dispose the clams shells after. I had to ask even for that. In the end they force you to give tip...the waiter literally put the machine in front of my face to tip him,as if he did...
