We finally found our French restaurant in Zürich! The lovely hostess at Lumiére greeted us with a smile as we walked into this candlelit, cozy Old Town restaurant where we were immediately made to feel at home. Though this restaurant is along one of the fanciest and most romantic paths of old Zürich, there was no snobbery here. Even the couple dining beside us smiled and greeted us as we took our seats among comforting pillows and signature dish ware. Our negroni cocktails arrived quickly, delivered by a lovely server with an international accent. Then came our beautiful appetizers-- goat cheese and a far above average mixed salad that put the other French restaurant (Lipp) down the street to shame. Our red wine was delish, paired with my husband's signature entree-- L' Entrecote Cafe de Paris (beef slices cooked in an herbed creamy sauce, served in French crockery) that he reported to be divine. As a vegetarian, my expectations weren't high when I ordered the cream of tomato soup for my entree with a side of Spinach, choosing it over the bigger options: mushroom risotto (or a French cauliflower dish that sounded good but was extremely pricey.) However, this tomato soup's flavors knocked any tomato soup I've eaten right out of the ballpark with its roasted, complex flavor. I need more! My spinach was cooked perfectly, and my husband's thin cut frites were delightful (again, compared to Lipp's tough frites down the street.) We completed the meal with a shared serving of some sort of pastry covered in chocolate and creme, and discussed how we could return with our family members to this incredible spot. Don't miss Lumiére! It beats its neighbors by...
Read moreAmazing customer service where they like to make things happen for the customer. To begin with they accommodate us ahead of our scheduled reservation time which in itself was phenomenal, given how busy the restaurant was at the time.
Ksanet, Bianka and Rui were amazing in their own rights and definitely were humans first and Lumiere employees second and forth. Not only did they serve us but gave us a few moments from their tight schedules to walk us through about how we could make use of a Sunday ( Switzerland for the most part is closed on Sunday’s and we were not prepared for that :( ). These folks had some amazing suggestions to make through and through and helped us a lot with our questions about Switzerland and travels in general.
The ambiance was stunning and the place was packed and had moderate amount of noise in there attributing to the conversations. The interiors were pretty amazing and well thought out and depicted the history of Lumiere.
We ordered a side salad, octopus with sliced potatoes, tuna tartare on avocado bed and for dessert we got ourselves the lime tart. The octopus dish was outstanding just like the tuna tartare where we enjoyed every bite slowly. The salad was put together very well and the dessert topped it all off to call it an evening.
This place definitely should definitely be in your list to visit in Zurich and given its proximity to Zurich HB it’s an easy decision to make ( even if you had to come out of your way to grab a bite here it will be so...
Read moreThe restaurant is an absolute gem. I have eaten at some of the best places around the world and this place is one of the best I have ever had. The steak was incredible, the Lumiere Salad is the best salad I have ever had. The steak reminds me of Ruth’s Chris steakhouse but better. Not only was the food incredible but the service was outstanding quick if you wanted it to be or slow if you wanted to take your time to enjoy the overall experience. Luis the owner is so personable and loves talking with everyone. Came back just to see him and enjoy his food. However, our waitresses Ksanet and Bianca were the absolute best part of the entire experience. You will have to go to see why. Overall, this is my favorite restaurant of all...
