Thanks to navigation, we easily found our destination today Tao's. We received a very friendly welcome and were escorted to our table. We started with a Patron Silver Margarita with Mango, which was served in an original way and was very delicious. For starters, we had the Grilled Octopus and Wagyu Gyoza. The octopus was excellently prepared and seasoned. The Crispy Duck Salad surprised us in two ways - it was a very generous portion and beautifully presented. Highly recommended. For our main course, we chose the US Black Pepper Beef and the US Beef Filet. Both dishes were beautifully presented and the quality of the filet was absolutely perfect - it almost melted in our mouths. The Fried Rice was a bit oily, but the creamy coconut spinach was top-notch in terms of color, consistency, and flavor. We enjoyed a bottle of Californian Cabernet Sauvignon and mineral water with our dinner. Unfortunately, we couldn't handle any dessert as we were completely full. Two espressos concluded the delicious meal. Conclusion: Tao's is a very nice location with attentive and polite staff, although the club music can be a bit distracting for the overall atmosphere. The culinary experience is convincing in every aspect. However, the price-performance ratio is a bit of a stretch, even by Zurich standards. Paying CHF 400 without gratuity for two people for a three-course menu with wine, excluding dessert, is clearly excessive.

Only had the dim sum and cocktails, which were not bad. The restaurant had WiFi but refused to give out their password. Normally I would not complain about this but the cell reception only allowed for 3G coverage in the restaurant. Listen restaurant owners, if you have internal WiFi and DO NOT want customers to have access, just name the network something else, anything else but the name of your establishment on the WiFi, simple as that. Second strike against this place, waitress asked for a tip. I think Swiss establishments hit up Americans especially for tips. Have been told by many in Switzerland that tip is included in the service and the bill already. I have been in the country for a week now and this was the first time a waitstaff has asked for tip. Just kind of a bush league move in my opinion. Cocktails were OK and dim sum was slightly, SLIGHTLY above average. And as always in Switzerland you are paying Swiss prices, and for tourists that means multiply your bill by 1.5x of what you would normally pay.

It’s a 10 minute walk from the main train station to this pricey pan Asian upmarket restaurant. The decor outside suitably has bamboo trees at the entrance. The interior is modern and stylish. Welcome was quick and kindly including coat hanging at entrance. (However, we had to walk past the roped off area at the end of the meal to collect our own coats as the waitress was on the phone and that took priority over actual guests in front of her. To be fair, the restaurant had closed at 2 PM although several diners like us were allowed to finish our meals and desserts without being rushed. We exited at 2:30 PM.) The lunch menu has relatively few dishes with a heavy concentration on sushi, shellfish and meat. There are enough vegetarian options however. The food was beautifully presented and service was kindly and efficient. The taste was good but not exceptional. As others have noted, it’s pricey even by Zurich standards. But it is a classy restaurant I would welcome going back to.

Very very low profile waitresses, place for teenagers and cheap drinks 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️. Thursday night, we come into TAO’s, I ask the waitress about the tables. She tells me all are reserved. I tell her that I want to take the champagne bottle suddenly she tells me that tables are free, but depends on what I take. I ask her a minimum consumption and she tells me “magnum” 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Like how useless you are to tell this to the customer? I love Dom perignon, and you must be truly not thinking to not know that some of your bottles are more expensive than your magnums. We were 2 people, and had no issue to take Cristal or the luminous bottle, but I am not taking a magnum bottle for 2. Waitress told me “I also need to earn”. I thought it’s very funny as I wouldn’t expect it’s her club, I thought the owner needs to earn :)))).

After came reservations, partying many years in zurich VIP’s it’s very very naive from the waitress to think that we wouldn’t know each other :))). Nobody reserved. Not a single table magnum. Consuming way cheaper champagne, not a single table took even 2 Dom perignons, some tables sit with only vodka bottles.

If I was the manager, this waitress would fly very very far away from the job tomorrow. I’ll make sure to tell everybody this story and make fun about the taos “take the magnum for 2”. She lost around 1-2k for the club yesterday and there’s no way that I would ever take a table or recommend it to anyone else ever.

I hope the waitress earned that night :)) the owner...

In Zurich, Switzerland, the Michelin-starred Tao's restaurant serves contemporary interpretations of traditional Chinese fare. The restaurant has gained recognition for its inventive menu options, crafted using premium, uncooked ingredients.

Although the menu at Tao's fluctuates with the seasons, the following are signature items:

Black truffle shavings and truffle vinaigrette drizzled over seared scallops. Duck with hoisin sauce, spring onions, and pancakes. Black pepper sauce on Wagyu beef with stir-fried vegetables Tofu map with rice Ice cream made with black sesame seeds and deep-fried Tao's additionally offers a comprehensive wine list comprising various domestic and international wines. An enthusiastic sommelier curates the wine list and is always willing to assist diners in selecting the ideal wine to complement their entree.

The service is exceptional at Taos. They are accommodating and congenial and exert additional effort to guarantee a memorable dining experience. The restaurant exudes an air of sophistication and refinement, characterized by its exquisite dining room and intimate bar.

In general, Tao's is an exceptional dining establishment that provides an exceptionally distinctive gastronomic encounter. The establishment is characterized by a sophisticated and refined ambiance, delectable fare, and outstanding service. It comes highly recommended to anyone in Zurich seeking a banquet venue for a...
