Gambrinus — Restaurant in Zurich

I went here mostly because I was on a budget and, based on the reviews, it seemed to be a good choice. I ordered one of the menus with the Schnitzel, was supposed to include a soup but I discovered later it was only for lunch. I had to wait for more than 30 minutes my dish. I was served this horrible set of nuggets and fried potatoes. It was not really good, it reminded me of McDonald nuggets, and was also overpriced, considering it did not include te soup. The waiter was nice to propose to replace the dish with the actual one I ordered, but I had to wait another 15/20 mins so I was honestly annoyed and decided to eat the dish. The waiter offered me soup, and I paid for everything except for it. The atmosphere is not very good, there was a horrible smell in the room (which is also the same thing that scared me off yesterday, when I wanted to go). Very bad experience, not worth the price. It was ok. Not expensive, good portions, friendly staff. I didn’t really like the cordon bleu, it was very dry, maybe overcooked? The rösti was also falling apart, it was basically just grated potato, and sometimes a bit too burnt. Not sure if it’s maybe supposed to be like that. The Kalb meat was delicious though! Bedienung Super nett. Habe Besuch zu dritt angemeldet also reserviert. Ich hatte zu Anfang der Bestellung dem freundlichen und zuvorkommenden Personal (blonder Herr um die 35) gesagt; machen sie mich bitte glücklich. Das ist ihm und der Küche voll gelungen. Das Tatar (25.50) sucht seinesgleichen, so frisch und zart das Rindsfleisch und angerichtet 1A auf dem Teller. Ein wahrer Gaumenschmaus 😋 Meine Begleitung zog ein Cordon Bleu (20.50) vor. Auch das dürfte ich kosten. Herrlich zubereitet und mit schönen leicht rezenten Käse der sich beim schneiden zeigte. Wir waren alle rundum zufrieden. Zudem gab es noch ein kleines Dessert inkl. / Unsere Rechnung mit all den Getränken und Kaffee 113.50 eigentlich viel zu günstig für Zürich, auch wenn es die Langstraße ist. Wir können das Lokal jedem der nach Zürich kommt nur empfehlen. Arm und Reich - Rotlicht und Herr Bünzli haben hier keine...
