I really was looking forward to trying this place and it had good reviews, not many but most of them were good. I was excited too because they had bubble tea. I miss the Taiwanese restaurants back in Canada alot because it is hard to find good food here in Zurich. But anyways we got there and ordered our food from the lunch menu and bubble tea. 10-15 min after ordering the food the business partner of Simon came back to tell us the lunch menu is only available during the week...so we had to order something else. We ordered an eggplant dish, a spicy beef dish, and two small individual rice dishes. The beef dish came first and the server asked us if we wanted rice we said we had already ordered 2 rice dishes so we would wait, then the next dish came with another server and that server also asked us if we wanted rice to which replied the same thing as we previously did to the other server, we just sat there waiting and just had to dig into the food without the rice and to eat asian food without rice is just not ideal but we had to wait quite a while for the rice. My friends rice dish came first and then I had to wait another 5-10min for my fried rice, they did appologize for the wait. The wok fried beef with scalions dish tasted like nothing, the braised eggplant was decent, and my friends braised ground pork rice was good, but my fried rice was also bland there was no taste. The bubble tea here is good though nice and refreshing, not too sweet with the perfect consistency of their pearls. All the servers and business partner were also very nice but I don't think that having 3 different people serving a table is very efficient or effective especially when there is a lack of communication. Have one server per table/section then there is no miscommunication and if that server needs help then of course another server can help but I think having 3 different people is a bit too much. I honestly think they forgot about my fried rice because I had to remind them and it took so long...it's just fried rice and I actually wish they had forgotten it because it just tasted like plain white rice. I packed up the left overs though because I figured it would be good for my toddler who eats bland food. Please also note that I have worked in the restaurant industry before and I am also asian so this is just...

We visited the restaurant during an event and had a very unpleasant experience. The first starter took over an hour to arrive, and it was another 30 minutes before the first main dish was served. The food was mediocre and far too expensive for the portion size. To make matters worse, the waitress brought the wrong dish and blamed us for eating it before notifying her. The bill was also incorrect, with several extra items charged. Think twice before coming here.

Edit:

Thanks for the reply. I’m sharing this response for other potential guests who may be reading, as it’s important to share not just what went wrong, but how it was handled.

While we understand that delays and occasional mistakes can happen during peak hours, what made our experience particularly disappointing was the staff’s attitude and lack of a proper response. Despite several issues, there was no apology or effort to address them with courtesy. The final bill was only accurate after we carefully reviewed it and asked the staff to make corrections.

Mistakes are understandable. But when the responsibility is deflected back to the customer and issues are only acknowledged when challenged, it raises the question of whether such mistakes would go uncorrected if not noticed. That’s not acceptable service, especially at this price point.

The food was fine, but not remarkable, certainly not enough to outweigh the poor service experience. I hope others will be more fortunate, but based on our visit, I would advise paying close attention to your...

The food is delicious, but the service could use some work. We reserved two days before our visit from their website and even received a confirmation. However, upon arriving the staff knew nothing of it. They seated us regardless, but it was certainly strange. They were horribly confused when we ordered, asking us multiple times if we really didn't want to order rice with the dishes. One of the main courses came with the starter. The dish that was supposed to be served with rice had the rice coming only later. They almost forgot to serve our water even though we told them twice about it when ordering and they were initially confused when we didn't want to order their sweet teas together with the meal. Furthermore, the staff kept addressing us in Chinese although we spoke to them only in English since first entering the restaurant. We weren't even an all Asian group. Also their form for ordering drinks does not make too much sense. Good luck if you want to order multiple of the same drink with different sugar and ice contents. Also the pen given to us to fill in the form was sticky and I don't want to know what happened with it. The teas themselves were interesting but it's really hit and miss. The tea a friend ordered did not mix well with their milk/cream which resulted in flakes and a very weird consistency in the tea. It also separated and floated on top. Overall, I'd like to reiterate that the food was cooked very well with amazing flavors. Just skip the tea, there are better...

I discovered Simon Says Taste Taiwan in Zurich through a post on the Taiwanese Facebook page "瑞士。瑰娜 All About Switzerland." As a Taiwanese who has lived in Europe for over seven years, I can confidently say this is one of the most authentic Taiwanese restaurants I’ve experienced here. The traditional décor instantly transports you to Taiwan, evoking a warm and nostalgic atmosphere. The food is undoubtedly the highlight. Every dish I tried was exceptional, and I loved it so much that I returned twice in one week! My must-tries include the popcorn chicken (鹽酥雞), steamed pork cheek (嘴邊肉), three-cup squid (三杯小捲), deep-fried egg tofu (雞蛋豆腐), scallion pancake (蔥油餅), fried rice (炒飯), and braised pork belly (爌肉). Adding to the experience is their unique selection of tea-infused cocktails, a rare find in Europe that brings a delightful twist to the meal. What made my visit truly special was the chance to chat with Chef Simon and discover that our hometowns are just a 30-minute drive apart. This connection made me feel even more at home, far away from Taiwan. A heartfelt thank you to Simon and Jonathan for creating such an authentic and welcoming space for Taiwanese expats to savor a true taste of home. Highly recommend! 感謝Simon 和 Jonathan提供了一個讓海外遊子能夠嚐到溫暖家鄉味的地方!

This gem of a Taiwanese restaurant tucked away on one of the side streets of Zurich transported me back to the culinary delights of Taipei (where I had lived for 4 years). The bao, scallion pancakes and dim sum were a delicious invitation to the main course... we had the lemongrass steamed fish (absolute perfection!) and the three spices chicken. Both made it quickly obvious that the chef had chosen only the finest fresh ingredients, and that the food was prepared on order - not in advance as may often be the case in many ways Asian restaurants. Additionally, the price to quality ratio cannot be overemphasized. This was a bargain meal, well worth returning for. Thank you to chef Simon and his team. 🇹🇼

This place is not just a restaurant—it’s an experience. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by super friendly staff and a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. But let’s talk about the real star here—the food. Simply put, it’s top-notch. Every dish is packed with flavor, and the portions are huge, so you definitely get your money’s worth. The Sichuan soup I tried was blazing hot—spicy as hell but absolutely delicious. This is the kind of place you leave already planning your next visit. I can’t wait to come back and try more from their menu. If you’re looking for amazing food, generous portions, and a fantastic vibe, this spot is a must-visit. Highly recommend
