Strozzi's Pelikan — Restaurant in Zurich

I’ve always enjoyed going to the Strozzi in Herrliberg and have never been disappointed there, which is why I was excited to try the other location. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations.

While the food was overall good, the tagliolini al tartufo were extremely salty, far too salty to enjoy properly, which was a shame.

But what really ruined the evening was the service. We had a waiter who was incredibly pushy and unfriendly from the start. We were clearly enjoying our conversation at the table, but he kept interrupting and trying to get us to dance, even after we politely declined multiple times. Instead of respecting that, he became increasingly unpleasant and passive-aggressive throughout the evening.

When we gave him a moderate tip reflecting our dissatisfaction with the service, he reacted in an unprofessional and frankly aggressive manner, which was shocking and unacceptable.

It’s really disappointing when good food is overshadowed by such poor and intrusive service. I wouldn’t return to this location, nor would I recommend it unless they seriously rethink their...

We were really looking forward to eating here, and it started off really good. The ceviche was great. Some of us had the shrimp pasta which tasted amazing too.

However, the truffle pasta that my friends ordered, was way too salty. We told the staff about this too, which they reacted good on, but they didn’t come with some sort of discount or a gesture in our way - which would have been nice seeing it’s not the level of food they normally should or do provide.

Unfortunately next to mostly lovely and attentive staff there was one waiter who was too pushy and reacted rude to some of our requests (like if we could have ice in our margaritas). The rude behavior continued with other actions from him towards us, which is a shame - because it shadows over our experience at Strozzi’s. The Restaurant Strozzi's Pelikan is centrally located in Zurich and can be easily accessed by public transport. For example, it is just a few minutes' walk from the Paradeplatz tram stop. In summer, the outdoor terrace is very popular, so advance booking is recommended. Inside, however, there is plenty of seating where you can enjoy food and drink in a stylish, modern setting.
