One of the most fabulous minimalist oriented Japanese restaurants in Zurich opened today 180321.
If you enjoy Japanese cuisine then allow your tastebuds to be entertained by the fresh, unique Omakase this amazing chef prepares and you won’t be disappointed.
For lunch I had the nori taco themed teori which is a lovely sampler of fresh fish, fatty avocado, pickled radish, seaweed, tamago, inari, and marinated pumpkin along with a tasty miso soup. It was wonderfully Japanese and unlike anything I’ve experienced in Zurich before.
Tomorrow I’ll have chirashi or... if I’m really lucky, the Omakase lunch menu with some of the best fresh fish available in Switzerland! I’m so looking forward to it. For more pics, stay tuned.
Today we did a sake tasting. The four sakes offered are specially selected to complement the menu. Each has unique characteristics: There is a fruity, sweet Junmai called Akafuji which (for me) has flavorful notes of pear and a hint of apple. A brown bottled Ryokan junmai has a roasted grain aroma. It was fabulous cold as well as warm (as the name suggests) and really turned into something special once I added a spoon of tea to the sake. the floral patterned bottle of karaku amakuchi a junmai ginjo was smooth and sweet. Perfect for bringing out the flavors in our meal then there’s the daihoju a junmai daiginjo whose complex flavors offer the connoisseur something to remember.
Remember sake is an alcoholic, fermented, rice drink whose preparation is closer to that of beer brewing than wine making. It’s dramatically less acidic than wine and should really not be compared with wine despite the similar color / clarity. If possible ask for the special sake cocktails.
If you’re in the mood for something refreshing after your meal, give the yuzu liquor a try. I really enjoyed the...

We chose this restaurant based on the glowing reviews and were genuinely excited to celebrate a birthday here. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to expectations.
The service left a lot to be desired. Our server wasn’t able to explain the menu or identify which types of fish were being served. Even after checking with the kitchen, the answer we received was vague (“salmon, tuna, and other stuff”), which was surprising given the reputation of the place.
As for the food, we only ordered a selection of appetizers and a bottle of wine — and sadly, that was all we could manage. The flavors were underwhelming, and we ended up leaving to have dinner elsewhere. Even the wine service was off — our white wine was poured all the way to the top of the glass, which defeats the purpose of keeping it chilled and properly enjoyed.
Perhaps we caught them on an off night, but for the price and the hype, the overall experience was really disappointing.
The only good thing about this restaurant is the location. Would not recommend and would not...
Read moreWe had a small sashimi plate as appetizer and were really disappointed... The kingfish was sweet and soft, salmon and tuna were just about okay, but the scallops and shrimps were fishy and left weird taste in mouth afterwards. But they never asked how the food was during the whole dinner, so I didn't have chance to tell them. Anyways, it was not worth 32 fr., neither for the quality, nor for the service you get. Towards the end of the dining, the employee spilled Yakinikutame while putting away the plates and the table and floor were covered with the sauce. Afterwards, it was cleaned only roughly and the tablecloth was not changed, so we had to finish our dinner on a wet table with sauce-covered tableclothes... My clothes and shoes also got slightly dirty, and they didn't ask about it... As if it was not their business. I went to the bathroom to wash my clothes. Overall the food's quality doesn't correspond to the price and the basic service is absent. I wouldn't go there again... There are much better...
