Overall decent 👍 Not many places are open on a Sunday or even for brunch/lunch time so this satisfied enough!
I ordered:
Wesley Plum Iced Tea $6.50 CH = it was okay, not bad but not my favorite / wouldn’t order again…but glad I tried it!
1 pork dumpling / Shanghai bao $2.40 CH = good! Crispy bottom and fluffy dough… pork was good, wish it was bigger.
1 shrimp dumpling / Shanghai bao $2.80 CH = okay. Wish there was more shrimp inside, not much flavor… I prefer the pork for sure!
1 Peking duck $28 CH = also decent. The duck was a bit dry but duck is hard to cook and keep juicy so it was expected. The portion was enough for me but I am small so it may not be enough for someone else…. I finished everything! The wrap/pancake were more like a tortilla texture than what I’ve experienced from the States, Beijing, and the UK. But the taste was similar. A bit tough though :/
Service was adequate. I was the only customer bc I visited within the hour of opening. But when I arrived, the indoors smelled of cigarettes.
The ambiance is cozy. I’m not sure what the other photos from other reviews are about that it made me confused if I was at the right place upon arriving.
Pricing is as expected. You’re not getting a deal by any means but given that Zurich is one of the most expensive cities in the world, the pricing seemed fair.
Overall, I’d give this place a 3.5 star ⭐️ I’m not sure if there are any authentic Cantonese or Chinese cuisine in this area but this place...
Read moreHaving just moved to Zurich, I was already craving Chinese food and Wesley's Kitchen definitely helped hit the spot.
I heard from friends in Zurich that good Authentic Asian restaurants are hard to find here (especially at a decent price).
Wesley's Kitchen is a great option for those who just miss dim sum! (I haven't been here for dinner yet so only had their lunch dim sum)
Their xiao long bao (pork soup buns) were really really good, the skin could be thinner but honestly, I'd be back for more.
The Shanghai buns were also yummy and you can order them by piece which is nice.
The steamed ribs were super authentic, scrumptious and be soup that comes out of the ribs (because of the fat) is very delicious.
The crispy noodles were just ok- I'd try something else next time. (The noodles were better after we added their spicy sauce).
As mentioned by many other reviews before, service was really slow...the 2 servers just weren't paying much attention to the tables and when each table was done or needed something. It was difficult to get their attention.
I'll be back to try their...
Read moreLocation: walking distance from the main station, or you can take tram 4, 13, 17 heading to Escher-Wyss Platz and get off at station Museum für Gestaltung. From there it's just a short walk. Atmosphere: it's a place to eat and leave, not inviting to stay for hours. Staff: let's say the service is at a professional level. Food: they serve a set of authentic southern Chinese dishes and Sushi. I had BBQ porc Macau style, which was okay but not overwhelming well. The porc skin was a bit hard and chewy, but it should be crispy like crisps. I also tried Shanghai baozi with porc and another one with shrimps. I couldn't really taste the shrimps and both pieces were dry inside. I expected some juice inside though. Each of them costs CHF 2.50 which is at the mid range, I had better ones at Khujug which are more reasonably priced. Conclusion: it's an okay place to grap a quick lunch. Some of the dishes are also served at Long Wai but better seasoned for my taste and...
