It's been about 18 years since the last time I was at Pasta East West. The last time I was there the experience wasn't very pleasant (but that wasn't the restaurants fault...other factors involved)
I went to Pasta East West with my whole extended family for lunch. It was a VERY rainy day and we were the only people in the restaurant.
We decided to try several items on the menu. I thought the service was very good (they were very attentive given we were the only people in the restaurant and we had a fairly large party).
Over-all I thought the food was so-so. Wasn't horrible but it also wasn't what I remembered from before.
The bread was excellent before the meal started. They also gave us some mushrooms with shrimp which was pretty good. Their salad was delicious; pizza not bad. I ordered the pasta with truffle. It was very oily; over-all the taste wasn't bad but it really was oily. Some of their other dishes were also so-so...
The dessert was disappointing. The chocolate cake was probably the best out of all the desserts.

Read moreVery pretentious Italian restaurant in Taipei. Having lived in Europe for many years and been to Italy numerous times, there's nothing authentic about this restaurant. Pesto pasta is not the kind of pesto sauce you'd expect. Full of under cooked garlic. The restaurant was playing Portuguese music when I went there for dinner. The food is way overpriced, same level of pricing as in London. They really try to fool the local Taiwanese by pretending to be an authentic Italian restaurant and charge a high premium price by claiming to serve high quality Italian food. The locals unfortunately fall for it, not realizing they get totally ripped off and believe this is as good as they can get on Italian food. Don't recommend this...
Read moreA very good family style Italian restaurant in Taipei. I had an impression that the set menu for Christmas Eve should not have been good as they were too standard. But I was impressed this year by Pasta West East this year. The taste of all the foods remain the same level as the ordinary time. The service is also up to standard. The lobster pasta tastes very good. The well done steak is also very tasty. It’s really one of the favorite restaurants in Taipei. You may bring wine you like as they don’t charge corkage. If you want to have Italian food in town, it’s a good...
