To sum up, I’ve come here to eat or celebrate for a few times with my grandparents who really love the foods here but last time was before the pandemic because buffet restaurants were mostly closed at that time. I mostly went to the SKM A11 branch but it is under renovation now. However, of course the prices are quite high since it’s a buffet restaurant and it’s mostly full if you don’t reserve in advance. You might still need to queue even if you have a reservation because most people did the same thing as well. Despite all of that, it’s definitely worth it and I highly recommend Japanese food lovers to come at least once. Moreover, there are also some Japanese Bentos (the prices are $200 or $250) sold at the counter. Speaking of the transportation, I suggest you walk for about 10 minutes from MRT Taipei Arena or 12 minutes from MRT Nanjing Sanmin. Overall, it’s absolutely a...

coming here for Christmas dinner was a terrible mistake. i had a feeling things were gonna be bad the moment they just let everyone in free for all without even checking who had reservations. we had to flag someone down to show us where to sit while other people were just randomly choosing seats.

right from the start a massive queue formed for the sashimi. i know taiwanese people love to line up, but this was such a ridiculously long line that it stretched to the dining tables. there were lines almost as long for the fried/grilled food station, too. it’s just not a good feeling when you go to a buffet and immediately you’re surrounded by long lines. they need to either reduce the number of diners they let in at a single time or prepare the food more efficiently. the only station that didn’t have a line was the chinese food (stuff like fried rice and chow menu lol).

apparently after the first wave, they already ran out of some of the more desirable sashimi (not sure which fish it was). my mom only managed to snag two servings for us on the first round, so there was definitely a lot of grumbling going on from diners who were understandably frustrated that the restaurant would run out of food within the first hour. not long after, the grilled station was empty, too, and everyone was scrambling to pile up on the shrimp tempura. it was just an all-around awful environment for a dinner, christmas or not.

the coup de grace was when i nearly pierced the roof of my mouth chewing on a piece of sashimi. i neglected to take a picture because i didn’t want to cause a ruckus on christmas of all days, but it was a pretty damn long bone, a little over the length of my fingertip. that is, as taiwanese people say, 很不OK.

the food itself is mediocre at best. it’s not the worst, but you could easily find better food pretty much anywhere else. anyways thanks 新葉 for ruining christmas dinner

edit: my mom threw up three times and i got diarrhea lmao what a...

Terrible experience ! First of all, when I went to the restaurant I booked seats online and already paid online and yet you still are required to make a line !

I was not the only one surprised that even if you already paid you have to wait in line. If this is the restaurant’s rule you MUST write it down on the website !!! Management should care about this part. If I booked and already paid online I expect to arrive and seat right away.

In terms of food, all of the food was cold and the taste was very mediocre, it felt as though the food was worth less than $500 NTD.

The service was also a super BIG downside. The old lady cutting the beef and pork was so annoyed and spreading very bad vibes to everyone. If this restaurant wants to stand by it’s prices then you should make your employees provide that same level of service.

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone that would not like to have a hard...

[TAIWAN VLOG DAY 11] TW: Body Shaming, Eating Disorders While my heart is filled with love for Taiwan and Taiwanese culture, it would be unwise to turn a blind eye to toxic societal norms within the culture. I am fully aware that it’s also not just Taiwanese culture, and spans across cultures around the world and I just wish that people would refrain from commenting on another person’s body PERIOD. It’s easy to tell someone to ignore the negativity and ignore the idiots, but in reality, it’s incredibly difficult. Also, truthfully speaking, I’m sick of ignoring the toxic comments. I now find myself calling aunties out and holding them accountable for what they’re saying. While it may be an easy comment for them to make, the aftermath of their words cause me to relive my childhood traumas. As I say this, I also admit I did not call my masseuse out for her comments, and I regret not speaking up and walking out. I love myself and I love my body. It has kept me alive and allowed me to do things I love and that is what matters the most. I still love my culture and while it may be considered normal to make comments like this, I sure as hell don’t have to accept it. If you’ve ever experienced anything like this, please know that you are beautiful, you are loved, you are strong, and anyone making these comments are 10000% insecure in their own bodies and need to make comments like this to make themselves feel better. This is one Japanese Buffet Restaurant you have to go to if you're ever in Taipei. The selection of food was huge and it had a bit of everything, not just sushi, sushimi etc. The dessert area had a great selection and.....wait for it.....beer and wine was included! There was also another 1 or 2 types of alcohol, and coffee, tea, milk tea, soft drink and so on. The food itself was delicious, the decor nice. We had a booth which made it a nice little space for us to talk and relax over dinner. The service was prompt and great and the price was cheap, making it really good value! I look forward to returning next time i am in town 🙂
