A decent effort from the restaurant . The right ingredients, and the slightest hint of all the right flavors are there but a lot is missing in the final dishes- mainly the depth and complexity of spices and flavors you expect from Indian food. Overall- it's not bad, and not great, just slightly above average. If the restaurant were a student I'd give it a C+ only to let it know it's headed in the right direction.
Service was attentive enough. The staff seemed knowledgeable and were present on the floor. Timeliness of dishes coming out of the kitchen was ok. The only major issue was the Naan coming out 8-10 minutes after the curry and rice dishes. THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN IN AN INDIAN RESTAURANT. Naan is essentially the silverware with curry, unless someone orders a special naan like a sweet date naan, it should come out with the curry. I would advise the front and back of house being retrained on this. Naan takes 2-5 minutes to cook in the tandoor so there's no real good reason for this.
Chai tea was much like the food and lacking the depth of spices it should have, but again, the basic hint of it was there just barely.
I understand tastes are always catered to local taste buds, but I think this restaurant can go much further without offending the local palette. I'm suspecting a lot of the lack of depth of flavors comes from cooking small batches rather than large batch cooking that would allow for greater concentration of flavors and cooking over longer periods of time- but that's a guess. I do like that the menu is small and allows the chef to focus on a handful of items to really perfect them.
The Chicken 65 is different than anywhere else I've ever had it. It was wet instead of dry or more wet than dry, but that's kind of the beauty of Indian food too- finding different ways the dishes are made but with the same essence. India is a massive country with an incredibly diverse culinary experience so there is not such a thing as 1-type of Indian food.
That being said- the only thing from Indian food you can rely upon is the complexity and depth of flavors and I think Renshi can get...

The Pros - The curry dishes were extremely pleasing. Full on flavor and in good portion, they combined perfectly with the Crispy Nan breads. The juicy, rich chicken Tikka was superb. Both the service and prices were added bonuses to the positive experience we had at this location.
The Cons - There are very few seats, so it is difficult to get a seat or reservation. There is a very small parking lot across the street. Otherwise, parking...
Read moreExtremely delicious, highly recommend! Atmosphere was beautiful and comfortable. The staff was attentive and friendly! Our group tried many different types of their curries and tikkas and I couldn't choose a favorite. I loved it all. Seemed fresh and high quality. My iced milk chai tea makes me want to go back just to sit and have some tea! SO good. The salad had a good flavor with a fresh blueberry puree dressing, but it was so small it was more of a one bite "palate refresher". I'd love to see a larger version...
