Bistro88 — Restaurant in Taichung

Amazing dinner at Bistro88 in Taichung. An excellent atmosphere with a nice vintage design and empty restaurant.

FOOD: We ordered

1. Pumpkin Soup and Mushroom Soup: I had the mushroom one and it was good. My friend told me the pumpkin one was average. But as starter it was fine.
2. Scallops Asparagus: Asparagus were crunch and the scallops with a good texture. Good taste too.
3. Duck Breast: It was a huge piece of breast and it was really tender. It comes with some veggies and a chutney. I would come here to eat this duck again.
4. Schrimp Pasta: Sauce was strong (I like it) and made us full quickly. The texture of the pasta good (not over cooked), but schrimps average.
5. Macaron Ice Cream: Really beautiful decoration with some fruits and nuts. Macarons were good. I had Vanilla and Strawberry Ice Cream. In my opinion, Vanilla better.

MENU: Perfect with English and Pictures.

SERVICE: They were really kind and helpful, providing water all the time and explaining the dish. Something I didn’t like was it had a huge time gap between my Duck and my friends’s pasta to come to the table. So when my Duck arrived, my friend’s pasta was getting cold. So, as a suggestion, they could manage the time better to give the main courses together.

PRICE: 2,625 NTD 兩位. For all the atmosphere, the food, the service, I think the price is fair.

It was with genuine surprise that I stumbled upon such a culinary gem in Nantun, Tainan. This bistro, ensconced in an inviting ambiance, offers a dining experience that truly stands out in the bustling city. The environment radiates warmth, ensuring that each guest feels immediately at ease, making it an excellent choice for both intimate dinners and friendly gatherings.

The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the seafood. Freshness is paramount when serving marine dishes, and this establishment hit the mark impeccably. Each bite transported me to the coast, with flavors so vivid, it was almost as if the ocean was whispering in my ear. The seafood rice, in particular, was a revelation. Expertly cooked grains melded harmoniously with succulent pieces of seafood, creating a symphony of flavors that danced jubilantly on my palate.

To round off the experience, the service was commendable. Attentive without being intrusive, the staff ensured the dining experience remained seamless. In summary, this bistro in Nantun offers an impeccable combination of ambiance, service, and, most importantly, delectable dishes that are sure to satisfy even the most discerning palate. If I could give 0 stars I would. We came here with family for Christmas lunch - 6 adults and 2 kids. I have never experienced such disorganized and poor service. We asked that meals for our kids be expedited so they wouldn’t be waiting, hungry and cranky. Despite this, my husband’s meal arrived almost an hour before that of our kids. Our kids were left waiting for almost an hour and a half. When their steak finally arrived, it was served rare rather than medium as we’d requested. We then had to wait while they redid it. Somehow the meals for two other members of our family flat out didn’t even get entered into the computer and despite us asking repeatedly where the food was, it didn’t occur to them that they had never submitted our order! When we spoke to the person who looked like the manager we were told there is no manager. Rather than enjoy my Christmas meal when it finally arrived, I ate while a series of staff came by to discuss and do anything other than actually make things right. Thoroughly disappointing and do...
