ISOLA DINING&BAR ｜餐酒館｜酒吧｜ — Restaurant in Taichung

I’m Italian and I used to own a restaurant in Taichung. It’s the second time I’m going to Isola, first time I tried the bar menu and couple of cocktails. The cocktails are good. I tried over the first night the duck liver brule, it was excellent! And I’m from Firenze where we instead have chicken liver pâté. Isola makes it so gooood!! Bravi 👏🏼 must try! Tonight I tried the cavatelli pasta with duck ragù and porcini sauce, the fresh pasta is phenomenal and perfectly cooked! And if you can’t agree that pls stop eating Italian food!! Sauce was also very well done, tasty and juicy with right amount of spices! 10/10 Carbonara was good too, juts not my dish but I did enjoy it. The grilled squid over Mediterranean sauce well done. Puttanesca seafood (tonight it was makarel) was right on point, perfect l! Like you can have it in Naples! The duck could be a bit more crispy but it was accompanied with a delicate honey-ish figs jam, very delicate and well cooked, accompanied with a zucchini flower filled with sausage (top!!) Over all a great experience and probably the best Italian and especially AUTHENTIC italian food in Taichung. Fresh and original. The menu offer dishes from different regions which is great, as well as the wine list with wines from southern to northern regions for a great wine paring experience for those who loves wine as I do. Restaurant: ISOLA

We just finished a dinner at this restaurant. This environment is really cozy, candle lights and not noisy.

FOOD: We ordered:

1. Duck Liver Brûlée: Amazing and I wanted to have more because it’s really hard to find another one.
2. Salami: Average
3. Oktopus Soup: The oktopus had a good taste but for me i was disappointed. I was expecting more of this dish.
4. Beef with Tuna Sauce: Beef was tender and the tuna sauce strong. Good.
5. Gnocchi Cheese: Amazing, delicious. Sauce really thick and I want to have this again.
6. Agnolotti: Nothing special.
7. Tiramisu: Nothing special
8. Torta della nonna: it was good, sauer and with a strong flavour.
9. Peixe a Putanesca: Fish nothing special but the sauce was good. They also give some breads for free.

MENU: They have English Menu. And many other options of pasta and meat.

SERVICE: I was positively surprised with the service. They could speak English and all the time was giving to us water

PRICE: 4,664 NTD 兩位. I didn’t like they charged us 50 NTD because we ordered extra oil. Ridiculous.

Dropped by again in 2025 and loved the fresh menu and cocktails.
