La Bodega Tapas bar — Restaurant in Taichung

We went there to watch the female’s football game. It was changed for a while because there was some other game going on despite all other screens had this other game going on. Then, somehow the owner or manager realized he messed up. We had literally called to check if they were showing the game before going over and they had said yes. So, changing it in between felt rude. He tried to apologize with some wine, which made it a bit better except he came to pat my back. I despise being touched by people I don’t know. So, that’s why I don’t give 5 stars because there was more than one thing from the restaurant’s service that made me uncomfortable. The bar tenders and waiters, however, were really sweet and respectful. The burger we had was also great, definitely recommend. The hummus comes served with French bread and not Pita. Food was a hit and miss, standard price for the Spanish cuisine in Taiwan I supposed, came in medium portions. They have quite a few beer selections, not so much on wines. The most disappointing part of our experience was the atmosphere. It became “busy” when their vendors/friends came by and the only foh staff had to do everything. While they were only 2-3 tables dining at the time he’s had to run around to do the serving and loading etc. We had to get up a few times to ask for what we need and the whole dining experience made us felt like we’re some intruders at someone’s house and not as guests. Also, that one AC is not enough!! It was extremely warm that night.

Kudos to the “one young server”. He tried his best and he’s the only reason this place got 3stars...

As native Spanish, I don’t recommend this place for eat. If you wanna watch tv and drink a beer, it’s okay.

We ordered: 3 kind of paellas (vegetarian, chicken & sausage and seafood). All of them had too much cooked rice and strange taste. Furthermore, the size of paellas is really small.

2 different kind of Spanish omelette (regular one and Iberian ham and cheese one). Both were frozen one, just heated up in microwave.

1 Mix of Iberian. Chorizo and ham. Ham was smelling bad and taste like plastic.
