Saturday Night Dinner - Came very hungry with a friend and ordered 3 curries with garlic and butter Naan. The owner said it was too much food and strongly recommended we substitute Aloo Gobi for Tandoori Chicken, which he reassured me was excellent. As soon as it came out, i knew this was a big mistake.
1 - Boneless chicken breast used instead of leg or thigh meat. After a couple of minutes, it was dry and tedious to chew.
2 - Served on a sizzling hotplate over a bed of lettuce, which was pale in color and soggy. Gross visually, texturally and taste- wise.
3 - The marinade was nice, but the dish lacked any smoky, bbq flavor, which should be a key feature of this dish.
The next morning, and I'm still scratching my head as to why the owner urged us to order this. It was a terrible dish, especially at the price point of 329nt... Seriously dumbfounded.
This became even more apparent when our next dish, Butter Chicken arrived. It was prepared with the same tandoori chicken! It makes me think they prepared extra for whatever reason and just wanted to get rid of it...
On top of this, Butter Chicken was especially bad for 1 simple reason - the sauce was so incredibly over-sweetened that no other flavors came through. Can't understate this.
Palaak paneer - this dish was very decent. Thick sauce and lots of paneer, but lacking any depth in flavor, in my opinion.
Naan - I must say, the Naan was excellent. Wonderful elasticity with a bit of crisp. My only problem here was the price point at 89nt. Not a big deal, but even in Taipei, 60nt is the standard.
As a last note, we ordered medium-spicy and nothing was even remotely spicy.
Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed and would never return. For 1,275NT, you could have a wonderful Saturday night...
Read moreHad a horrible experience at this restaurant. When asked to distribute the food we had ordered across the table instead of putting everything down at one corner or the other, the owner's daughter argued with my colleague and said that she expected us to do it ourselves. The owner then came over, wagged a finger at my colleague and asked him to "behave himself" because he had made his daughter cry. His demeanour and the way he said it was so hostile that I completely lost my appetite and stopped eating immediately. In any case, the food was substandard, so I didn't feel too bad about leaving my meal mid-way. Needless to say, I will never visit this place again, nor will I recommend...
Read moreI ordered 4 dishes. Although the taste of each dishes is quite nice, I think for the portion vs the price doesn’t match. The veggie masala dish came in a little small bowl size with nothing else. Ive never had Indian food before so I dont know if it’s normal for for Indian main course dish comes by itself only or not. But for the price around 359nt, a small bowl of veggie masala is pricey. I know Gongyi area is an urban area and mid-range foodie place, but compared to other restaurants around this area, the dish size and its price doesn’t reach my...
