Caihong Beef Noodles — Restaurant in Wanhua District

7.22.2025 Ordered the combo beef noodle soup with thick noodles; received regular beef noodle soup with thick noodles. May be my fault as the boss lady didn’t seem to understand what I asked for in my poor mandarin though I pointed at the menu as well.

Soup is a little light in flavor. Beef was a little dry but soft. Noodles were a bit too dente.

Service is fairly basic and no frills; not a surprise as this is a neighborhood joint surrounded by a bunch of other beef noodle shops. A lot of other options to try.

Atmosphere is adequate given this is a neighborhood shop. Plenty of fans and air conditioning. Tables, utensils and condiments are clean and well maintained.

The more famous sibling of the same block. Wide big spacious eatery. Efficient MacDonald fast food service. You order from a guy seating down. In a few minutes, the next guy appear serving you the exact order . Food wise is so so. It's beef noodles. I find the noodles a little hard in texture. Soup on its own is quite tasteless. The saving grace is to add the lard and spices to it. Then again it's still could not stand toe to toe to its competitor on the other corner of the same block. I personally knew it. As I finished a bowl here feeling dissatisfied, I walk over to the other corner and had another bowl of soup to satisfy my craving of a good bowl of beef soup. The other corner surely did...

Fast, friendly, and helpful staffs made this beef noodle shop a much nicer place to dine than the other place around the corner called Fuhong. No nasty staffs here. The guys at this place are quick to attend a first time visit foreigner with super fast services to ensure your hungry needs are fulfilled. Most customers looked like local college aged youths and late night taxi drivers, and off the clock security staffs in their uniforms.
