C.J Hotel — Hotel in Taipei

I feel generous because the place is close to one of the main metro stations. However, you wouldn’t really call it a hotel. Reception is open only for a few hrs(11 am till 7pm, or something like that). If, heaven forbids, you need a late check in or any type of assistance before or after that time, you’re not going to get it.

Our room was in desperate need for a renovation. It was more an old studio apartment than a hotel room. Lack of storage space for clothes, apart from a few coat-hangers by the door. It had a kitchen sink in the middle of a wall for no apparent reason. The rest of the kitchen obviously was missing apart from a couple of kitchen cupboards. Inside no traces of plates, cutleries or any other utensils. So who knows what role they were meant to play in the “hotel room”.

You had to tell reception that you wanted the room cleaned by 12pm each day. Call me old fashioned, but if I pay for a room I expect it to be cleaned and have a daily towel change without me having to tell you. Especially in Asia where you can’t flush toilet paper down the drain but you have to dispose of it in the bin next to the toilet. I let you imagine the potential stench.

The toilet: in keep with the rest of the “room”. No shower curtains, the shower head is probably 1 meter above the floor, which means that, if you’re tall, you won’t be able to be wet at all time. Obviously the toilet floor is a puddle afterwards (even though the shower is in the bathtub).

All this for $98 a night (6 nights). Could always be worse but there’s definitely no value...

I had pleasant stay over 2 nights. The place is very walkable distance from Ximending. From Beimen station exit 1, it’s only 4 minutes walk. And you can take bus no. 965 to Jiufen from Beimen station and bus 260 to Yangminshan park from Beimen station as well. I stayed in Duplex suite which is enough for 3 people. The place looks exactly like picture in agoda. The hotel communicates with guests via LINE app with English translation. I think that is good to avoid...

很糟糕的酒店：一間未準備好、管理不善且未維修好的房間！ 第一，放在房間的wifi指示錯誤，用Line聯絡管家才回覆「密碼是舊的」，可見管理很馬虎！ 第二，馬桶有漏水問題，洗手間的地板都是水，廁所不同位置也發霉了。 第三，房間一進去時，洗手間的窗戶(沒有蚊網)全打開了，令昆蟲可飛進來，洗手間亦有蛾蠓。 第四，窗簾損壞無法拉下，在早上 6 點左右因外面太光而醒了（床就在窗戶旁邊）。 第五，空調很吵，我們最後不得不開風扇睡覺。 第六，房間不乾淨—部分牆紙剝落，吊燈滿是厚厚灰塵，相信以年計沒清潔。

Terrible hotel: an unprepared, poorly managed and unrepaired room! First, the Wi-Fi instruction in the room was wrong. We contacted the staff via Line and replied us "The password is old". It can be seen that the management is very sloppy! Second, the toilet has leakage problem that the floor of the washroom was wet!! The toilet was moldy as well. Third, when we entered the room, the windows of the bathroom (without mosquito nets) were all open, allowing insects to fly in. Some flies were found in the washroom. Forth, the curtain was not functioning that we were woken up by the brightness at around 6am (the bed was just next to the windows). Fifth, the air-conditioner was noisy that we finally needed to turn on the fan for the whole night instead.
