Golden Flower Grilled Toast — Restaurant in Wanhua District

Golden Flower 🌸 Grilled Toast is very popular with the younger generation of Young Adults 👱‍♀️👱‍♂️👱🏿 and Teens 👩‍🦱👦👩🏼‍🦰. It’s a place that is a cross between Taiwanese 🇹🇼 x western 🇺🇸breakfast. So there is bread 🍞🥯🥐and all + a twisted add on of ham 🐷, bacon 🥓, eggs 🪺 and cheese 🧀.

Staff 💁‍♂️: Ok maybe it’s the early morning thingy 🤷‍♀️…. Not super friendly but certainly not rude either ✅✅✅. It was just a sleepy morning 🌅 service. Order at the front counter, pay (only cash 💵, no credit card 🪪) and they will serve you. There is a rack for gloves 🧤🧤and napkins 🖱️because it gets messy! (Reminds me of Burger 🍔 & Lobster 🦞) Nobody came to chit chat with us and all the staff seem to be rushing. That’s ok….. we are cool 😎.

Food : OVERLOADING, OVERFLOWING and OVERWHELMING LOL 🤣🤣🤣. #bursting #explosive Basically you can expect the sandwich to be stuff to the max and when you bite in, you get the eggs and cheese overflowing and dripping. OMG….. such a killer meal 😉😋! It's a tasty, large portion and I will say…. Very Satisfying when you wash it all down with a coffee ☕️. Everything is fresh, the bread 🍞🥐 was nicely toasted 🎛️, eggs 🍳well cooked, meat 🥓 was sizzling when it came and some effort to make a display on the plate 🧆🥪🍲.

Environment : It was nicely decorated, tables were clean and so were the utensils 🍽️🍴. But the toilet 🚻….. not the best I have been to. They should also separate the kitchen with a door? If not, the interior setting is warm and welcoming.

Thoughts are I will visit this place again. Just manage the expectations because there is after all no service charge, the place is clean 🫧 and food is good 👍. So slot this into breakfast at Ximending if you are around the area. I teenage kids loved it 😘! Better than McDonalds 🍔🍟for sure LOL 😆

Oh…. They close by 3pm 🕒. So don’t even think about going...

I came in search of taro and pork floss sandwich, and on some food blogs I was recommended to this cafe near Ximending. Was a very small cafe with very limited seats indoors probably could sit about 10-12 people and another like 2-3 tables outside. I looked at the menu and saw the taro and pork floss sandwich but was told they ran out of pork floss, so they recommended me the taro with egg and cheese sandwich which was also one of the signatures of the cafe. I was kinda disappointed but I decided to go along with the recommendation and order the signature milk tea as well. The bill came up to 110 TWD which I thought was rather reasonable. Confirmed when the food and drinks were served as the portion looked really big. The shop seems to be understaffed so cleaning of the table has to be done by the customer after finishing, to bring the litter to the bin and return the used plates. Need to be attentive as the staff will shout the number first for you to acknowledge before bringing the food to you. I had a look at my sandwich and it looked big and thick. I didn't know how it would taste and so had to give it a try. I regretted. I didn't really like it. The whole sandwich was a mix of confusing flavours, I felt that the egg and the cheese totally overpowered the taro I couldn't taste the taro. And because of the taro I think the egg and cheese didn't also bring out the savoury portion so the overall was very flat. The savoury smell overpowered and the flavours just neutralized each other. Didn't feel contented eating it, felt like a waste of money...

Service was fast despite being severely understaffed. Portions were big. Located in the heart of Xi Men Ding, it garners a young crowd and some families before the shopping district opens!

I wanted to try their set, so I added a kid’s nuggets (for fun) and a big ice Black Tea, which was not very sweet and helps to wash down all the grease~

🌯 Yam Paste Meat Floss Egg Roll (NT 65) The yam paste was rather bland and smoothly pureed, with a mild artificial sugary sweetness. Despite the meat floss, this savoury-sweet egg roll was a little disappointing, seemingly packed with ingredients but lacking depth in flavour.

🥪 Truffle Mushroom Sando Toast (NT 110) The Chinese punny name translates to “Truffle Kabedon” hahahah. Super hearty with rich truffle sauce in the mushrooms. Gently toasted to give a slight crisp, yet softness to every bite with cheese inside. Really moist!
