Finished my 11-night quarantine stay at Orange Hotel - Ximen. I'm very satisfied with the experience and would definitely recommend to anyone needing quarantine hotels in Taipei. First, the room. From the room size info during booking, I knew the room would not be big. Upon entering the room, I was pleasantly surprised by the king size bed and huge TV. The desk size was also okay, and between the bed and desk, there's sufficient space to do exercise and not feel crowded. So overall I found the space quite comfortable.
Next, the amenities. I feel they put a lot of thought and care into the amenities. Besides the standard items, they also provide guests with laundry detergent, dish soap, dental floss, and alcohol spray. They also have a care package for guests, with a thermometer, set of utensils, a mug, a bowl with lid for instant noodles, and a stand for phone/iPad---all very useful gifts that we can bring home!
Third, let's talk about the food. I really appreciate the quality and variety of the food they prepared. Breakfast: Taiwan is famous for many wonderful breakfast items, and we have the chance to taste so many of them during the quarantine stay! Chinese omelette, rice ball, steamed bun with egg, turnip cake, noodles, sandwiches, rice burgers, and McDonald's breakfast with corn soup :) Lunch and dinner: we get different bento boxes, and sometimes pasta, beef noodles, and dumplings for lunch. The dinner boxes usually have a main dish plus several types of veggies, which is great. Additionally, the hotel provides a piece of fruit and yogurt every day. Another thing I noticed was that most of the drinks that came with the meals were unsweetened (e.g. tea, soy milk). I think the hotel is quite health conscious when preparing the meals for us.
Lastly, the activities, which is what prompted me to write this review. I did not expect quarantine hotels to try to provide activities for guests. Every Saturday is "movie night", and they prepare extra snacks and drink for guests to enjoy while watching the movie. Another time they designed an online game using Kahoot. Guests can answer questions online and try to compete for a higher score. It's nice to have something special on a few days during the quarantine. I appreciate the hotel's efforts in arranging these extra activities. Overall, highly recommend Orange Hotel for...
Read moreThe Orange Hotel Ximen has been an excellent place to quarantine. The hotel has carefully thought through many of the needs quarantining people would have such as toiletries, coffee/tea, refrigerator, dish soap, laundry soap, and provided for those needs. The bathroom is very nice and western-style with excellent hot water and water pressure. The wifi is reliably high-speed. Another thing that I enjoyed about my stay was that my room had a marvelous view over Taipei.
The food has been fantastic. It has been mostly Taiwanese or Chinese-style, but the hotel orders from different restaurants so you get a nice variety. The hotel publishes a menu for the week so you can see which restaurants they will order from. Even when I reached my second week of quarantine and they ordered from the same restaurant, I never received an identical meal. Each meal was different. Although I normally eat western food, I enjoyed almost all of the meals here.
The communication before and during my stay has also been excellent. The staff have been very quick to respond and provide for my needs if I ask for anything. They’ve communicated consistently in English which has been very helpful. They have also been very kind. In some places, quarantining people are treated like they are dirty or unwanted. However, any communication I received from the staff at the Orange Hotel Ximen was very warm and considerate.
The staff at Orange Hotel Ximen work really hard to keep the hotel clean and prevent any germs from spreading. When I saw their precautions, I felt very safe and confident knowing that my room was completely germ-free when I arrived and any deliveries I received were handled with all sanitary precautions.
I’ve heard about lots of other quarantine hotel experiences but have never heard about a hotel that works this hard to keep up morale. They’ve added special touches like a bag of practical quarantine gifts upon arrival, delivering surprise treats, a movie night with snacks, and even a Thai day with Thai food and treats. Quarantine can be long and boring, and these little touches and the friendly communication made a world of difference for me. I would definitely stay here again if I had to quarantine again...
Read moreRead moreI chose Orange hotel-Ximen as my covid-19 quarantine hotel. The first thing appealing to me is their free airport pickup service. This indeed reduces my worry for transportation. For a quarantine hotel, what I care most about is clean and safe. This hotel follows the local covid-19 guidance strictly, so I feel safe to stay here for my 14 days quarantine. The room I booked is a standard room so the space is not too big. However, it is very clean and includes almost everything I need for 14 days, for example, kettle, detergents of dishwashing and laundry, alcohol spray…etc. There is no microwave in the room though but I guess you can ask the front desk to heat up the food for you (I never try though). My room has windows so I can open windows and let fresh air in which is really what I need with 14 days quarantine. Also, the wifi is quite table and fast. I have no problem working remotely during my stay. Their front desk service is amazing. You have to download the app (Line) and you can communicate with them 24 hours to ask questions or request service. They usually reply to the message promptly so you will get help any time. You can add meals into your hotel booking. I heard their meals are pretty good. However, my schedule is different from local time so I chose to order food via foodpanda or ubereat. I can find so many different yummy Taiwan foods nearby. The front desk will help to deliver food to your room. I have no concern to get starving but only need to watch out for my weight.
