Chao Ping Ji — Restaurant in Xinyi District

Excellent Dim Sum! Good but awkward service, decent atmosphere, clean restaurant, reasonably priced.

The food was served hot and with good presentation.. The taste and quality were excellent! The Dim Sum chef was highly skilled. The portion size were adequate. The service was professional and attentive, but a bit backward. They provide paper cocktail napkins ( roughly 4" x 4") instead of full sized cloth napkins for dinner. As a result, we wound up using several of them and we'd place them at the edge of the table for the server to take away. The servers took away all of the dirty plates but left the pile of napkins! The manager was very kind and a great host. The decor was minimalist, but upscale.

Overall, this was an excellent meal and one of the best Dim Sum places I've been to.

I have a rather severe gluten sensitivity. I also have a barely passable grasp of the Chinese language. So restaurants like Chao Ping Ji would be daunting for me to navigate.

However, the waitstaff and kitchen were able to figure out ways to accommodate me and my dinner companions (who can eat gluten).

In the end, I had a most delightful and delicious dinner. Most importantly, it was a gluten free dinner.

I’m very grateful to the restaurant for the care they showed. A suggestion: It would be helpful to indicate gluten free options or accommodations in the menu for Chinese-illiterate folks like me.

Normally I wouldn’t even step foot in a Chinese restaurant because I really dislike Chinese food but this restaurant makes my mouth water. They have a variety of different Chinese food from fried noodles to cheese with cabbage. You can see many buildings around the area. The restaurant isn’t dirty at all. In fact, it is pretty clean! I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to people who does not like Chinese food because everything in it is Chinese. If you really like Chinese food, you should definitely go...
