Visited in October 2025. Taiwan 🇹🇼 Taipei.
As fans of Hong Kong cuisine, especially siu mai dumplings, we couldn’t resist visiting Dim Dim Sum in Taipei, located within a shopping mall. The interior is bright with an open kitchen, and orders are conveniently placed via QR code, adding a modern touch to the dining experience.
FOOD:
The menu celebrates Hong Kong cuisine, featuring an array of dumplings and quick-prep noodle dishes with various toppings. We sampled several dumpling varieties, with the classic shrimp and pork siu mai stealing the show—perfectly executed with authentic flavors. The truffle siu mai was equally impressive, delivering a genuine truffle taste that wasn’t just for show. We also loved the shrimp and lychee balls and the crispy fried tofu-wrapped shrimp, both bursting with flavor and texture. Another standout was the noodle dish with chicken and XO sauce—the chicken was perfectly cooked, and the sauce added a rich, savory depth. Every dish we tried was consistently delicious and well-balanced. Having ordered their food via delivery multiple times, we can confirm the quality remains top-notch, arriving well-packaged and fresh.
SERVICE:
Service was efficient, though interaction with staff was minimal due to the QR code ordering and self-payment at the counter. A 10% service fee is added, which feels slightly steep given the limited table service, though staff do bring food and occasionally clear plates.
VERDICT:
Dim Dim Sum quickly became one of our favorite spots in Taipei. We dined there almost daily, and the consistently high-quality ingredients and dishes never disappointed. Their siu mai dumplings are arguably the best in the city. While it’s a shame they don’t serve alcohol, this restaurant is a must-visit for Hong Kong cuisine lovers. Highly recommended for authentic,...
Read moreSteamed Cured Meat and XO Sauce Rice ($198): I’ve had a few dishes containing hydrocarbons from them like noodles, but this is by far the best one I’ve ever eaten. In my opinion, XO sauce usually goes better with rice than noodles somehow and the cured pork also adds some extra texture to it.
Pineapple Buns with Butter (3 pcs) ($128): In comparison, I think that Tim Ho Wan’s tastes far better, more delightful, and has superior texture than this but it’s still decent and enjoyable.
Hershey’s Chocolate Egg Waffle ($108): It’s my first time trying Hong Kongese egg waffle, which is only available in this Dim Dim Sum and surely has outstandingly crunchy texture with great flavour of Hershey’s. You should definitely try this if you come here. In addition, you can also add on an ice cream bar for an additional $98 onto the egg waffle.
Iced Tea ($98): The level of the sugar added is by far the most satisfying to me because I’m a strong flavour person.
It’s located on the B1F, where there is a direct entrance to MRT station. The restaurant had been renovated and now it looks grey and white instead of wooden theme before.
If you come here by the direct entrance from MRT station, just turn right, walk to the end and you’ll see the restaurant.
To top it off, I’ve been to Dim Dim Sum in Taipei Station for a few times but recently discovered this chain as well. They always serve amazing and authentic dim sums and any other dishes at moderate prices and never disappoint. The service attitude the staff have has also been nice and helpful. Overall, it’s a

Read moreThis not the Hong Kong 點點心 that I thoroughly enjoyed last week, same choices with a couple of add ons and not the same taste experience at all. Disappointing. The only dish that was good was the spicy, steamed beef tripe which was tasty and more black peppery than its slightly satay spiced Hong Kong cousin. And the rest of the dishes were bland, less than fresh versions (were they from frozen dimsum?) of what I ate in Hong Kong. Shrimps in dumplings were small and tasted like frozen and the pork "sui mai" was tasteless. The beef rolls were skimpy and seemed like they were reheated. And where was the red vinegar and ginger? And the lemon tea was not Hong Kong style lemon tea, instead it was sickly sweet no lemon taste liquid gross.
If you want dim sum in Taipei go elsewhere, there is a lot of decent dim sum to be had, just not here.
Service was friendly, quick and efficient. Too bad the food...
