1019am, I started to join the long queue.
1033am, I managed to get a queue ticket. The counter lady even asks which language menu, nationality I am from, to better accommodate to customer spoken language. Making it way easier to order, understand the menu.
1045am, they open. Within 5-10mins, I am being ushered in by this cute robot as shown in the video.
Upon confirming the order via QR code, you have the option to get the staff to reconfirm the order with you, choose whether you would like the dessert to be served concurrently or later.
Did not have to wait long for the food. Within 10 minutes. My first dish had arrived.
The crab roe and pork xiao long bao is as usual. High standard with no flaws.
The pork rice wrap gives a local authentic taste.
The steamed beef soup may look unassuming, but man, the broth taste was heavenly, especially on a rainy cold weather.
The dessert, must order, dark chocolate dimpling is to DIE FOR! Bitter aftertaste that aids in clearing the palette of oily pork.
Oh, the tea is FREE WITH ENDLESS TOPUP. Perfect to wash down the throat.
Want to shout out to the ultra attentive trainee staff anne, I am sorry, unsure how to type your mandarin name fully within that few seconds of interaction.
She was very friendly, prompt service upon asking to top up the tea and even automatically top up whenever customer tea cup is emptied. Even gave me directions on where to locate the nearest restroom (toilet is outside and not inside the restraining) when I make the enquiry. Though I am unable to see her face through the face mask, but the eye smile and friendliness make it super welcoming to customers dining in.
Hope she can be a confirmed staff for the taipei 101 branch soon. She has set a high bar for others to emulate.

From a Singaporean, Singapore, who has dined in Singapore outlet, Din Tai Fung multiple times. The service standard is paler compared to the service received in Taipei 101. Taipei 101 outlet all staff ought to be recognised for their excellent service and perhaps, an increment in their salary? 😁
Will love to dine in again whenever I drop by Taipei.
Hope Taipei 101 Din Tai Fung outlet can expand their seatings. I only manage to dine in the second attempt. First attempt the queue was...
Read moreI’m not really sure what I think about Din Tai Fung, but one word to describe it would be: cautious.
I don’t think anyone will find the flavors offensive, but at the same time, it’s hard to say the flavors are bold enough. I don’t think I would go again if there was more than a 15-30 minute wait.
Service is very good, the staff is probably one of the most attentive I’ve seen. They’ve nailed down the whole operation aspect of the restaurant industry, and their efficiency and speed of service/food arrival is top notch.
Out of the following dishes — Din Tai Fung House Special(Cold), Kao Fu (Cold), Shanghai Style Soy Sprouts(Cold), Steamed Vegetarian Mushroom Dumplings, Green Squash and Shrimp Xiaolongbao, Truffle and Mushroom Soup, Noodles with Sesame and Peanut Sauce, Shrimp Fried Rice (With Egg), and Snow Mushroom Sweet Soup (Cold) — the best items in my opinion were the Truffle and Mushroom Soup and the Snow Mushroom Sweet Soup (Cold) dessert. The Kao Fu was pretty good, but I mean it’s a cold dish.
Ordering is through the phone, but what’s nice is that it doesn’t have to only be the same phone if ordering multiple times. The only issue is that if multiple people are looking at the menu after scanning the QR code, after someone adds an item to the cart, that person’s menu scroll location will jump to where the other person is on the menu.
Some cold desert options require you to do takeout/takeaway.
We went on a Wednesday around 4:40pm. Our ticket number appeared on the screen at 4:50pm. So I’d say this is a good time to go, as when we walked out around 7pm, there was a 90...

This was the first restaurant I went to right after landing in Taiwan, because it is indeed the most renowned restaurant here. I was excited to try their dumpling and beef noodle soup.
I had to wait for over an hour because it was a weekend evening, and I wasn't surprised about that. I went around the tower and there was a Christmas market to check out (you can also go up the Taipei 101 Observatory if you got enough time to kill). The waiting system was very organized and convenient, announcing the next customers' name and waiting # in different language s depending on where the customers' are from!
My friend and I were seated at a random table set right along the hallway and ordering machine for employees, so it didn't feel so much like a restaurant. The service was amazing, friendly staff, but there's an automatic surcharge of 10% tip on top of the bill, which I experienced for the first time in Asia. We ordered about 5 dishes, and they were all alright, nothing too special about them. The food came out quickly though. As famous as it is, it was a bit pricey for the quantity and quality we got.
I wouldn't really come here again since there are many other restaurants that serve good beef noodle soup and dumplings, but recommend to come here JUST for the experience of this...
