Beef Cutlet (Gyukatsu) Set (130g: $450, 260g: $700): Fried beef cutlets, barley rice, miso soup, side dishes, and Japanese mochis are included in this set.
Most importantly, the cutlets were still kinda raw when delivered, which was about medium; therefore, grilling on stone griller is recommended.
Afterwards, the cutlets tasted so much better after briefly grilled on stone griller. The condiment that went most delicious with beef was salt just like the normal steak and to note that there was no tonkatsu (Japanese fried pork cutlets) sauce here. Eating the seasoned Mentaiko with the rice was also a great way to enjoy the meal and the miso soup was very flavourful.
However, the coatings weren’t as crispy as Tonkatsu (Japanese Fried Pork Cutlets). Moreover, if you want additional beef, it costs $250. The barley rice, miso soup, and cabbage are free of charge. There are various condiments on the side of your table, and complimentary tea in a kettle.
In conclusion, I’ve been eating Tonkatsu for a long time and this time trying Gyukatsu was such a great experience. Of course, the prices are higher than the pork but you definitely won’t be disappointed and even want to eat again. By the way, the restaurant lies on the 10th floor of Far Eastern A13, same floor as its cinema. Overall, it’s a 9.5 out of 10!
FYI, there’ll be 10% service charge...
Read moreI recently tried fried beef for the first time and I must say that I really enjoyed it. The dish was simple, with two variants to choose from: a big or small platter. The big platter came with two beef steaks, while the small platter had only one. The texture of the beef was soft, juicy, and had no pungent smell. It was cooked perfectly, allowing me to either eat it directly (if I wanted it more raw) or grill it for a more cooked one (the meat is still soft).
The restaurant also provided free-flowing cabbage and Miso broth, which I found to be delicious. The miso broth had a strong flavor that was warm and comforting, while the cabbage slices were fresh and crispy. I particularly enjoyed mixing the cabbage with their mayo or lemon sauce. The dish also came with three different condiments, one of which was red and I wasn't sure what it was, while the other two were garlic and soy sauce. The garlic sauce was my favorite!
While the price was a bit high for me, overall it was a satisfying meal. I do hope that the restaurant either lowers its price or provides bigger steaks and free-flowing side dishes. Nevertheless, I left with a happy tummy and would definitely consider going back to try more dishes...
Read moreWas recommended this place by a friend who said he was willing to queue for this even though he doesn't queue for food in principle. I arrived mid afternoon about 230pm so there was no queue and no crowd at all. In fact there were just 2 other tables occupied besides me. The way it works is that you order first before they seat you. It's basically a choice between the usual set meal or the upsized one which basically has more meat. I opted for the bigger one as I was hungry. The wait for the food wasn't long and the instructions for how to enjoy the meal were very clear. The waiters were attentive and refilled my tea and also asked if I wanted more rice or side dishes which were basically free flow. The beef wasn't top top quality but very very decent and good value for the price you pay. The meal was truly enjoyable. Service was impeccable. And the place was clean and simple. I'd come again but not sure I'd...
