Update on Latest Recipe, The Breakfast Breakfast at the LeMeridien Taipei
We are now sitting at the Meridian for breakfast. It is 730 and the quality is quite good.
The Western section, however features some dishes which have a tendency to be cold seems the chefs don’t really check temperature which is kind of sad and the ham, which is for carving is cold and dry. That is unfortunate.
If you are a fan of noodles, then you look at the noodle station , which is extremely good, serving two types of noodles served in a hot broth with flavourful meat and add some fried garlic spring and you’re in heaven it’s really the place to be
The fried egg section. You need to be a little careful since the young lady likes to fry the eggs over extremely high heat which is not for everyone if you like the soft must let her know, and observe her omelette skill as these leave somewhat to be desired.
When you look at the cold section, what do you realise is that time these people similar to Japanese like the cold cuts and salads and other various offerings that western cuisine you really don’t find easily, but it’s a nice election except cheese looks dried out so it’s not bad but not fantastic.
The dairy and cereal section is classic standard and actually is quite adequate so if your body looks for fibre and yoghurt, you’re at the right place.
Please make sure that if you are a fan of waffles or pancakes, ask the chefs behind the counter of which they are a few to make some fresh for you. You got the cold try out options.
The service, the high, the ladies that serve us professional may not have the highest standard of English, but they are certainly extremely friendly and willing, and provides the kind of service that everyone is looking for.
Overall one can say we are happy with what is being served and truly looking forward to come back

Latest Recipe, Le Méridien, Taipei
Buffets are usually not on my horizon anymore, generally too much food, quality can be Inconsistent, and so on!
BUT. A BIG BUT! Occasionally you find excellence on all levels even on a buffet! Take this particular restaurant and you would be amazed!
Remember it’s still a buffet , but these are super popular in Taiwan, and quality & price/value relationship need to be right!
The food is exceptionally fresh, cooked mostly in front of you! But it’s stands out on all levels, from Grill to Roast, from Tempura to Chinese Noodles, the stir fries are refreshed quickly, the pastries are work of art and the salad bar is decent! Ok one can argue in the Sushi & Sashimi side of things but for a buffet it’s good enough! But the quality of everything else leaves little to desired!
The service is exceptional considering the staffing issues like everywhere these days! So this is one place that cannot be missed if this is your kind of thing!
1690,- NT PLUS 10% service (L&D) (75,-$ Sing) Weekends 1890,-
Still exceptional value, and great food! Probably the No.1 in Taipei!

Read moreThe latest recipe is a standard hotel restaurant, if you are on an all-inclusive plan. Which would not be bad, if it wasn't promoted as a high-class restaurant. The dining room was quite full, and the tables are close together, so the atmosphere is not entirely pleasant, rather you feel as at a crowded event. The food is not bad, but quite average, I expected a larger selection of seafood and sushi, also the selection of beef was not too big. However, what lowers the quality is the fact that much of the food on display is already cooled to cold when you place it on the plate. The service was average at best, I was surprised that they take reservations for 19:15, but at 20 (and several more times after that) they will come to you that they will close slowly (opening hours are until 21). Also, at the grill station, where they provide steaks, they have only a few pieces cut off, and when you ask for a fresh piece, they tell you to come in 5 minutes, when you might miss it again. On the menu, it was said that red wine was included, but on the spot, they said that it was not. So, in general, it is a relatively average experience, I did not enjoy the food too much, it was more about the quantity than...
Read moreMy lovely wife took me here for my bday and I had some concerns after reading the other reviews and having experienced disappointing hotel buffets in Taipei, but boy was I wrong. This place is awesome. service is polite, attentive but not intrusive. Variety of food is amazing. Beef steak you can ask how well you want, so juicy and delicious. Soups are so fulfilling with either asian or european type. sea food, oh the sea food, from sushi to lobster to crab and shrimp all are fresh and you can taste the quality :) desserts are abundant from cookies to crepes or variety of cakes with a great coffee machine. pizza is thin and delicious, deep fried tempura section is amazing too and not too greasy. beverages are refreshing and my favorite was watermelon juice, though orange juice was not fresh but concentrated. overall, the best buffet experience I have ever had in the last 5 years,...
