Sushi Nakazawa — Restaurant in Xinyi District

Thanks to Taipei Restaurant Week, we had the privilege to try a specially curated Japanese omasake menu at Sushi Nakazawa. The dishes were incredible and brilliantly paired with sake. We started with a chanwanmushi, squid nigiri, Toyama white shrimp nigiri, vinegared mackerel nigiri, lean and medium fatty tuna nigiri and the list goes on. Came with a party of 4. Having eaten at many Michelin Guide recommended places before, this particular restaurant stands out as the worst. How did it even get recommended in the first place?

Some of the fish served was not fresh, the quality of the uni was comparable to Kaitenzushi standard. Some kaitenzushi probably have even higher quality. Total disappointment from all guest in my party.

In short, would not recommend anyone to this place until they do an internal review of the standard of their food at this price point.

The very best straight from Japan, ingredients as well as the chef himself. Delicate and delicious with great presentation. Great tastes and wonderful to look at too. Every dish is carefully prepared and cooked in correct manner if not raw. The restaurant is superbly located in Taipei and decorated as if it is in Japan.
