Located in the B1 Food Level of the Magnificent BellaVita Luxury Plaza the Tofu Village Restaurant is a Korean Light Dinner Dining Room serving a delicious assortment of Korean Cuisine, more of a light Dinner in that there are no overly complex gourmet banquet servings as the emphasis is on the Rice and Tofu with Seafood, Pork or Beef as well as Hot Plate Stirred Beef or Pork or Lamb stir fried with plentiful seasoning and an appetizer selection of 6 cold vegetable dishes, including the always present Kimchi pickled cabbage which is very nicely prepared to taste exactly authentic, perhaps not so spicy hot as can be found in Korea. They give you two small plates that you pay a nominal amount for and 4 more small delicacies for free, with a choice to serve yourself at a buffet style table (and you will need to pay for the refills).
The Seafood Tofu Bowl With Rice is my wife's favorite and being a seafood fan, she is very particular about the freshness and taste. I normally get the stir fried Korean Beef which is delicious, and instead of rice, this dish is served with big leafs of Romaine Lettuce to be used as a wrap that you put your mounds of beef into and then you are on your own.
Afterwards when you are ready for desert there is a soft ice cream machine that is normally full of a special tofu ice cream, which is a mild slightly sweet, slightly tofu flavored soft icy cream Its pretty good, worth a taste and you can self-serve, as many times as you please!
I can highly recommend this restaurant with confidence because it is consistent in service, food volume, preparation, cleanliness and component quality. Make a reservation during...
Read moreWhen I first came to Taiwan for school, I didn't really know of that many places to eat here. Some foods are more common; others much harder to find. While it isn't the hardest dish to find in Taiwan, a vast majority of Korean restaurants in Taiwan focus on barbeque and don't serve sundubu-jjigae, but when I'm craving tofu stew, I come to Tofu Village in Bellavita. The food here is excellent. The banchan is tailored to Taiwanese taste, sweeter than in California, but not overpowered. The various sundubu-jjigae have good flavor and are portioned large enough to satisfy. The bulgogi is sweet and the galbi is slightly peppery, both going well with rice. If the food is good, why do I give it 3 stars only? Perhaps I'm a little more perceptive than the average customer, but there is one problem that most higher end establishments in Taiwan don't seem to understand. Service is poor at best. The servers seem to think that just because they work in Bellavita, they can act haughty and arrogant towards customers. Having eaten at large variety of expensive establishments, I can say that this pride is limited to a certain price range, and going either more or less expensive will yield monumentally better service. Because of the poor service, I only come to the place when I really crave sundubu-jjigae and want...
