Read about this restaurant from a few blogs and seems to have mix reviews. Decided to give it a try with two friends.

Price: 700NT per person during this visit. (Two different soup base, one plate of beef, one plate of pork, one plate of mixed dumplings, one plate of bean curd and fish cake, one plate of shrimp and fish paste, three pieces of ice cream tofu.)

Food: Quality of the meat is quite ok. Menu selections is quite limited. They provide four half pints of soup for you to add to the pot yourself. You can choose the less pricey soup base that is without the ginseng. (Everything here is à la carte priced.)

Drinks: Was given a pot of tea and was told it is a cooling tea and not advisable to drink too much if you have a ‘cold body’. After meal, we were served with 250ml jug of calamansi slushy that can be refilled once.

Service: Staff serving us was courteous.

Atmosphere/Ambience: Nice decorations with smoothing music. But not really that relaxing as there is a 90 minutes dining limit. (We were told that if there are no other guests waiting, we can stay a bit longer.)

This restaurant has three levels and we were told that we have to wait for at least 30 minutes. But when we finally got our table, we were quite shock by the number of customers inside.

On ground level, it is not fully occupied. Only three tables of guests when we arrived. Level two is actually closed and in total darkness with only the toilet open to guests. Level three (where we had our meal), is also not fully seated. There is one staff taking orders for the whole level. There is also another staff who helped to pass the dishes.

Overall, this is a pricey hotpot restaurant and there are other better more worth for value...

I had the pleasure of dining at this Taiwan hot pot restaurant, and it left a lasting impression on me. The cozy seating and excellent service set the tone for a delightful meal.

The star of the show was undoubtedly the creamy tofu soup we ordered. Bursting with flavors of ginger, garlic, pork bone, and chicken bone, it tantalized the taste buds. The addition of duck blood jelly and tofu added a unique twist, making the soup a true culinary delight.

While the boneless short rib fell slightly short of expectations compared to the flavorful beef chuck roll, the pork belly compensated with its mouthwatering taste. The iberico pork shoulder, although average, was still a decent addition to the spread.

The egg dumplings were a highlight - smooth and delectable. As for the fired bread sticks, they were crispy and made for a perfect accompaniment to the hot pot.

I appreciated the complimentary rice offered, and mixing it with the flavorful soup left me feeling fully satisfied. To end the meal on a sweet note, the complementary peach smoothie proved to be an excellent choice, providing a refreshing and delightful conclusion to the feast.

My only wish was for a slightly longer dining experience, as the 1.5-hour menu time felt a bit short. An extension to at least 2 hours would have allowed me to savor the scrumptious...

We are a group of 9 and we made a reservation via email as it could not be done online. When we started, we were given 1 hardcopy of the menu and the QR code and left to understand the menu on our own and to place the orders. The staff had just rushed off after leading us to our table. We had to specifically request for help. Service was slow and it was clear they were understaffed. When they eventually attended to us, it was either very rushed or very unclear. The 2 soup bases were fine at the beginning but as the dinner proceeded, the soup got very bland very quickly and tasted like hot water rather than soup bases. The meat and fish and food we added into the soup base didn’t help. After feedback, the staff then took out soup from her trolley which she claimed, was from the kitchen. Place was not maintained well and not clean as one would reasonably expect from a restaurant at this price range. The sauce station offered very limited choices as compared to what we would have seen in other restaurants that charge way less. Not quite the standard options. Would not advise to get the expections up too high based o the reviews. Taiwan has strong and reputable hotpot culture but this place is definitely not one of the representative. Would not recommend to come here. The only good thing is that the...

Wu Lao hotpot is very special! You can choose mixed hotpot with spicy and ice cream beancurd. Each of them have their specialities. But i prefer spicy one, it smells good and tastes heavy but not very spicy. The ice cream beancurd is a cold beancurd, it takes 15 mins to be hot and soft beancurd. Also, the rice, the dry beancurd and duck blood are free. Some staff will come often to refill the duck blood and dry beancurd. The rice is a special type one, taste soft and likes pearl rice. Everything is above average, a bit expensive like hkd170-hkd200 per person. The services also good. The atmosphere is nice. The whole shop filled with strong smell of spice. The waiters dress like Aladdin. The hotpot experience is different from that in hong kong. We do see a lot of foreign tourists to come here. We went to zhongshan branch and it takes some times to wait, but there are some seats for you outside the shop, not many. It seems there are time limit for consumers. I am not a hot pot lover, but it amazes me and i will be back again. But there are still many hot pot choices depending location, price, food quality and level of spiciness.
