Edit: Decided to give another try in September 2024. Ordered ragda parties, veg momo and fried rice. The momo was good, but the ragda patties and fried rice were not good at all. Fried rice had no flavor and the ratio of veggies was wrong, there were so many onions that it tasted like onion rice. Even after asking for spicy, it was very mild, even for my Taiwanese friend. Ragda patties didn't have any balance whatsoever, just tasted like fried potato with chana masala on top, it didn't have the balance of sauces and flavor you expect from Indian restaurant.
If you visit, please stick to ordering curries or south Indian food, those should be better.
Old Review
It's great to see a vegetarian MIK but the food quality has disappointed me several times.
They have some items unique to this restaurant that got me excited, such as "Masala Aloo Cheese Toast", but after ordering them I realized there's nothing Indian about it, and I couldn't find any "Masala" for sure. It looked and felt like they spread some ketchup on bread , put on some boiled potatoes and cheese and put it in the oven. There was no color to the potatoes (completely white, if you add Indian spices it usually takes a yellowish color from turmeric). And the price for such an item was 200+ NTD.
Personally I used to order from MIK regularly, but recently the quality has deteriorated. They have opened so many branches, but I only find the food from MIK-2 and MIK-8 up to the mark these days. I hope the intention can shift from...
Read moreIt may be true that this place is located on the outskirts of Xinsheng N.rd., and may not scream TASTY out loud, but don't be fooled! Inside, you would find top-notch, very flavorful delicious Indian food which is incomparable to any, and surely much better than some of the top-notch restaurants in Taipei and even Taiwan. I eat out a LOT, but when I keep eating, and can't stop even when I'm full - that's when I know that I hit a very special eatery.
We were at Mayur Indian Kitchen, Xinsheng road location near to Taipei main station for lunch, and ordered a Garlic Naan, Butter Chicken,Lamb Curry and Tandoori Lamb chops ended up with home made kulfi.
The Garlic Naan was very tasty - very fresh, warm and with a soft slightly crisp crust. Garlic flavor was just right as well, and not overwhelming.
The Butter Chicken was absolutely delicious! The meat was top quality and tasted as it was first grilled on a wood/charcoal fire, then cooked with the special amazing sauce.
Lamb was very good too! No gamines, very good quality meat and sauce was delicious as well.
The kitchen was surprisingly quick to bring out the fantastic food, and it tasted very fresh (makes me think that it was cooked very fresh to order). The pricing is very reasonable either.
Highly recommended! A must try, if you are looking for tasty and fresh Indian...
Read moreFood is delicious. It is very authentic Indian food. Even the server is Indian who speaks English and Mandarin. I have absolutely no complaints about the chatpata mushroom and paneer vindaloo, but the masala chai is not filled with spices the way I usually like it. The service is great considering there was only 1 on my floor while I was dining. He is also attentive to your water levels being low, and serves elegantly and courteously. The atmosphere has room for improvement. It’s not bad, and you can take your time to eat, which I love, but interior can be better to match the soothing jazz that plays in the background. By the way, I was asked to write a review by the server. I think they ask every customer to write a review, but they don’t ask for favourable review in exchange for discounts or coupons as a lot of places do in Taiwan, so I was NOT solicited or bribed. This review is my...
