Miramar Garden Hotel, central Taipei is the perfect hotel to stay. It may be pricy at approx $200 AUD a night, but it’s worth it.
You’re met with impeccable service from start to finish. As you arrive the bell staff take your bags from the car, the lovely lady lifting our huge suitcases! We arrived early but the let us check in and leave our bags. The front desk staff are delightful and do their best to accomodate our needs.
The exterior looks heritage and something out of England. The foyer area is sophisticated with floor to ceiling marble, royal looking lounge chairs and a lobby cafe with patisserie goods.
We return later and head up to our large room, with a huge bed and sweeping views. The room has a desk, mini bar, fridge, kettle and free drinking water, tea and coffee.
A huge bathroom with rain water shower head, bath, free toiletries and it all feels very luxurious. Room service was fast and if you’re preferring to eat at the restaurant, there’s one on the ground floor.
There’s to an outdoor pool, suitable to do laps in, but don’t forget your cap! Located at the pool is a poolside cafe where you can grab a tea, coffee, hard drink or light lunch.
There’s a gymnasium/health club with good quality and quantity of equipment. The most amazing thing was their sauna and spa area. It’s like a Japanese onsen. You wash and then soak naked, have a sauna or steam room and then use their amenities room to blow dry your hair, use products etc. This was incredible. They even allowed us to use this after check out.
We thoroughly recommend this hotel. It’s no wonder this is 5 star hotel and deservedly received a...
Read moreWhile this hotel was recommended to us, I can't say we had a good stay. We emailed the hotel in advance about my mothers food allergies, but didn't get a satisfactory answer. So we opted to book without breakfast for our 6 day stay.||I'm glad we made that choice, because talking with the reception in English was almost impossible. Really disappointing that staff isn't able to communicate and will say yes or sorry, but obviously don't understand what's going on. ||This became extremely problematic when we had a day where we arrived around dinner time after a thunderstorm. My parents were tired so opted for room service. They went to the reception to ask what my mom could eat with a translation of her food allergies in both English and Traditional Chinese (translated by a native speaker). They referred her to the restaurant, where they had the same conversation. Despite telling staff repeatedly "no bread" as my mom is gluten free as well, she received her salad with bread on top. The fries they claimed she could eat where American style fries, so had been seasoned with wheat flour, meaning she couldn't eat them.||Once I heard this, I talked to reception about this major problem, but they wouldn't take a complaint, refer me to a manager or even accommodate a new meal. After some back and forth, they decided to comp the salad, but not the fries, as my dad had some. ||If you have food allergies with an EpiPen like my mom, please don't trust this hotel. ||The only good thing they did was order us a taxi to our second hotel with a fixed price which was quite a bit cheaper than an Uber...
Read moreThis is definitely not a 5 star hotel. You cannot compare this to a 5 star hotel but the service is excellent and the rooms are exceptionally spacious and nice with a deep bathtub and shower and separate toilet as well but it is still not 5 star quality. If you want to stay at a very good 4 star hotel then this is a great choice! Some of their staff can speak Japanese and even Cantonese which is incredible. I actually do not mind the location even though it is a bit far from the mrt subway but it was very quiet and peaceful at night. I was surprised by how quiet it was! I took one star off because I feel like the snacks in the room are cheap and there is no coffee machine. I also requested an extra blanket when I booked online and was told that the hotel was going to provide an extra blanket for me but when I checked into my room there was no blanket. The restaurant in the lobby also provides incredible professional restaurant service. The food is okay.
Overall this is still a very good hotel but I would not call this luxury or compare it to a 5 star hotel because a real luxury 5 star hotel would go above and beyond to meet all your needs and provide great snacks and have water bottles in your room and a coffee machine and would make sure that all booking requests have been fulfilled before check in. I recommend staying here if you don’t want to pay for a 5 star luxury hotel and if you don’t want a cheap 3 star hotel or less and if you are okay with walking for 10 minutes to get to the mrt subway. If you are just taking taxi’s or uber then this place is...
