Along an alley way near Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, you can easily locate a soymilk shop with a long line of people. Some of them with their bleary-eyes and casual clothes, others with their big backpacks and cameras. How does this shop attract both locals and tourists alike? There are two reasons. First, this shop sets itself from other breakfast shop by specializing in the many variations of Shaobing (燒餅), a traditional snack from the east-coast provinces of china. But Shaobing is not a particularly rare food item in Taiwan. That brings us to the second reason, the location. Located in the vicinity of Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, this shops offers an atmosphere of nostalgia. Whether you are waiting in line for your queue or enjoying your food on the seats, it is not hard to muse yourself with the convoluted history of Taiwan and how the course of history shapes the eating habit...

You have to try with just finger pointing and gestures. Gesture for one of those porridge lookalikes, it is actually a salty bean curd soup with dried shrimp and spring onions, delightful. Try also omelette. I would skip their pork soup buns here, otherwise known as xiao long bao, but don’t let me stop you from trying what a standard rendition is if only to get your local experience and compare to din tai fung. Overall BAD experience here, it states that you need to order before sitting down, there’s individual that sits before ordering causing others not having a place to sit even after ordering and getting their food. (Please make sure that no such incident happens again)
Secondly, their food don’t taste good, lack of flavour. Some of the food are cold and the “youtiao” is cold and soggy, purely disgusting. Their rice ball “fantuan” have a fried “youtiao” inside it which is very hard and oily, the only thing u can taste is oil when u take a bite.
LASTLY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY I FOUND A HAIR!! A FREAKING HAIR in their rice ball “fantuan”, totally do not recommend anyone...
