红烧牛肉面 Braised Beef Noodle Soup = TWD220 No Service Charge
This is a Famous Beef Noodle Eatery. Even at 8.30am on a Monday Morning, there were at Least 15 People in the Queue. Interestingly, the Queue moves Fast and I got in about 10 Mins or so.

At the Price of TWD220 (S$8.90) for their Signature Braised Beef Noodle Soup, this isn't Cheap, but I feel the Quality is Worth it. The Amount of Beef and Noodles feels Reasonable and Filling.
The Broth itself tastes like Alot of Work had gone into it. It tastes Natural and I didn't detect any presence of MSG within. The Noodles themselves were also a Big Factor because these really do tasted Handmade due to its Unusual Firmish Soft Texture. If they were Not Handmade, then whoever supplied this Noodles to them sure did a Real Good Job because they tasted Good.
Usually for an Award Winning Michelin Rated Eatery, Chances are their Name is more Famous than the Actual Dish which alot of times may taste Pretty Meh. This is not the Case for Liu Shandong. This Beef Noodles REALLY tasted Very Good. I feel they really live up to their Name.
My Highest Top Score was also given to the Customer Service of this Place. Because it is a Michelin Rated Place and Very Famous and Busy, I had fully expected the Staffs here to behave Arrogant or simply Bochup Bochup. This was Absolutely Not the Case.
Yes, they were Busy no doubt, but They NEVER forgot to Smile. Everyone of the Staffs worked Very Hard and they were So Friendly, they even took the time to pull up a Seat just for my Bag which I am very impressed with. They could have left me alone but they didn't and I truly appreciated this Act of Kindness and Service. Even when I was taking Videos and Photos of the Place, got a Staff even Jokingly say in a Very Friendly Way: "Hey, help us take Nice Nice Photos ok?"
Even when I ended my Meal and left, they Never Forgot to say "Thank You" to me. Zero Sense of Arrogance. This was not the type of Good Service I expected from a Typical Multiple Award Winning Michelin Eatery. Everything that could have gone wrong with the Customer Service NEVER went wrong and I absolutely enjoyed my time here.
With such a Satisfying Experience of Slurping this Hot Bowl of Beef Broth Noodle Soup in a Cool 17C Degrees Weather, Warmed by the Real Friendliness and Customer Service of the Staffs, how can I not give my Highest Top Score for this? This Eatery was the 1st of Many that shown me True Taiwanese Customer Service and Hospitality.
Liu Shandong absolutely deserves its Legendary Reputation. If you are here in Taiwan Taipei, you definitely must come to this Place to give it a Try! Highly Recommended!

Read moreI don't know why people are so harsh about the lady managing the queue outside. I listened to her today very patiently taking 2 Korean lady's special orders, despite the language barrier, and without any sign of rush. She has to raise her voice from time to time cos people just don't listen. While i was there the neighbor complained at least twice about people queuing on their property. Even the boss pop out to see why the neighbour called again. It's a very narrow alley and people want to stay in the shade, so please spare a though for her havi ng to manage the crowd outside and take you order. Now the food. I had the clear broth version, but it look no different from stew version to me. The lady repeated the order when noodle was served, so i know they got it right. The soup was old style, meaning very oily, but that's just how it should be, cos the oil is what gives it so much flavour. Little surprise that people used to say McDonald made the best french fry, as they used beef oil in the past, but not anymore for health reason. The beef is tender and more than enough considering the price. Other popular beef noodle places would charge $250-300 but this place only ask for $150! I know it doesn't come with tendon or tripe, but it's good to see them keeping it so simple, just 2 types of broth and 2 types of noodle. I agree that the thick noodle is too chewy and failed to absort any flavours from the awesom broth, so I'd say order thin noodle and make use of the sauces on the table to make the noodles more flavorful. Don't forget to have raw garlic with the beef too, they go so...
Read moreThis was the 3rd time in the last 5 years that I came to this small beef noodle shop. But, I didn't get the 3 time's a charm feel. Regardless of the fact that there is always a 40 to 45 minutes wait in a long queue orderly lined against the wall in the narrow alley, there were many obvious reasons that led to my disappointing conclusion - the end result dwarfted the expectations. The proprietor is generous on their meat and noodles portions, I guess the charges per bowl justify their portions. Unfortunately, I found the broth doesn't taste much of beef flavor, and so were the noodles. People sitting shoulder to shoulder encircled a small table isn't going to have any chance to comfortably enjoy a meal While sucking up my noodles, I occasionally raised my head looking out of the windows, I felt the people in the long queue was shouting, "Hey! Don't stop! Don't look outside. Just gobble down your tastless noodles. We want your stool."
So, here is my story of my lunch. I waited 50 minutes in line. 3 minutes after I was seated, my bowl of noodles arrived. 8 minutes later, I was out of there. This noodles shop does attract quite a few tourists, from HK and Japan. I couldn't figure out the reason. Another thing I could never figure out about the environment or the seating conditions of all the popular small food businesses in this country, is that they are not clean, (I am trying to be polite, not to use the direct word to...
