The hotel’s boutique style is immediately apparent, with its thoughtful décor and stylish touches creating a sophisticated yet cozy atmosphere.
That said, there are a few areas where the hotel could improve. The rooms are on the smaller side, which might be a consideration for those who prefer more space. Additionally, the lack of a wardrobe can be inconvenient for storing and organizing clothing. The bathroom’s absence of doors can impact privacy, and the room’s view is unfortunately quite limited, overlooking a less picturesque part of the city.
The Wi-Fi at Opendo Hotel leaves something to be desired. While it is generally available, it frequently disconnects, which could be a challenge for guests needing a reliable internet connection.
On a brighter note, the a la carte breakfast is a standout feature, offering a variety of delicious options that set a positive tone for the day. The hotel restaurant also provides quality dining, although the menu could benefit from some enhancements to offer a broader range of choices.
The hotel’s location is a major plus, situated in the center of the city and conveniently close to major attractions and amenities. The staff at Opendo Hotel are friendly , which significantly enhances the overall guest experience.
For a short stay of two nights, Opendo Hotel offers a good value with its stylish design and good service. While not without its shortcomings, it’s a nice place that provides a pleasant stay and a great base for...

Upendo House has a perfect location in the heart of the old part of Stone Town with walking distance to all the attractions and restaurants. It´s a charming boutique hotel (see attached photos).
Our room (302) was a bit small and there are no seats to sit down. The bathroom is like a wet room and there are no places to put your things. The water pressure was OK, and we always got hot water. The room was spotlessly cleaned.
The breakfast was very good and made to order from the menu.
The beautiful rooftop terrasse is a lovely place to have a refreshing swim during the day and an amazing cocktail in the evening while watching the sunset. The rooftop restaurant and bar give you great views of Stone town and the Indian oce
The free Wi-Fi is really slow. I measured it early in the morning (07:00) and it shows less than 1MB both at download and upload. In the evening when a lot of guests are connected to wifi it is not possible to use it.
The best (and most important) thing about this hotel is the beautiful people that works there - they made us feel so welcome and comfortable all the time. Keep on with this high service level (I know it´s really hard work!)
Highly recommended!

Read moreWent to visit this establishment roof top with my wife and 2 kids. Paid 26.00USD and was told that it included 4 drinks which was 2 cocktails for adults and soft drinks for my kids . My son accidentally broke a cocktail glass and was told by the bar man it’s ok and he eoukd replace the drink. Before we left we were asked to pay another 37080 Tanzanian shillings for the broken glass that my 7 year old child accidentally broke and the replacement for the cocktails. Never go there again because they are total thieves and trying to scam from white people more money. Stay away from this establishment when you stay at Zanzibar in Tanzania because you will be scammed
For your information there was no group as you claimed but only 2 kids aged 7 and 10 year old plus my wife and I. After my tour guide rang you the next day after 4-5 phone calls you decided to refund me back the $20,000 shillings as a bribe on the condition that I withdraw the truth of this review, but you never refunded me this money and now are taking advantage of 2 innocent kids and blackmail. You are as low as I have ever met a person. Resulting in scamming innocent people.
You should never serve cocktail close to the pool but in plastic glass so it does break I bought a cocktail nit a glass. Never ever go to this venue and avoid it...
