I lived a year in India. The familiar high pressure of ordering more than you want combined with a lean bowl of vegetable soup that looks nothing like the menu and is without the stated ingredients can be overlooked for taste. Value is not what I am looking for. Good vegetarian food and service. To the plus side they let you relax and eat. This is not how it is done in India. The Dall Palak is very very good. Some may say it is salty. But the flavor comes out nicely. Spicy is not included. Despite the request to make it spicy. This is understandable with all the tourists. The wait is an hour for soup. But it takes awhile to cook and is well worth the wait. The price is very reasonable. 4000TNS for the vegetable soup and 10,000TNS for the Dall Pallak.
I returned a week later and they simply ignored my presence. I firmly believe it is not my job to announce I am interested in a table and a menu. Everyone was waiting for food. Not one customer had anything in front of them. And an argument was occurring at the counter. I left after waiting about 5 to 10 minutes. Ridiculous. Silk house is 10 times better. Next door....
Read moreWhen you are in Zanzibar for a long time, you want to eat something other than flour products. Since I don't eat meat, I chose a vegetarian place. Now I regret that I chose this one. Tomato soup had nothing to do with this dish apart from its color. It was a red liquid with no other additives. In the taste there was only a sharp taste that turned into bitterness with the addition of vinegar... something terrible. The next dish, Mushrooms Paneer, despite the waiter's assurances, was too spicy and there was only a bitter taste in the mouth. I must add that 16,000TZS is the price of the dish without any side dishes. We pay an extra 4,000 TZS for rice, which I consider a scandal. The neighbors at the table who were part of the staff or the owners' family will not make our meal more pleasant, because they eat with their hands with their mouths open and witching something on their phone. Apparently not appreciating the wonderful experience of eating. All in all, there was nothing to appreciate about them. So learn from the mistakes of others and make different decisions. I do...

Food and Taste: We ordered the samosa, spring roll, paratha, masala papad and veg Kadai vegetables. The starters were really good but the sides of pumpkin purée was okay. The kulcha roti and Aalu paratha were okay, can be a lot better. We did not enjoy the curry, it lacked some flavour and richness.
Thali is a power packed meal to get a taste of appetisers to dessert, this can be a lot of food and one that can make you feel extra full if this is your first time.
Service - The owner and waiter were courteous and the service is quick.
