Khaosoi Lanna & Thai Foods ข้าวซอยลานนา — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

This small restaurant in the heart of the Sunday Walking Street Market seemed like the perfect place to stop for some tasty Thai Cuisine. We ordered vegetarian Pad Thai, seafood pineapple fried rice and fried kale in ouster sauce. In all three cases the food was substandard. The Pad Thai was like a pot noodle, the pineapple fried rice tasted of supermarket curry powder and the kale was tough and too salty to eat. The fruit juices we ordered were just sugary concentrate with ice, so all in all a bad experience we will not be repeating. Oh yes, and after we told them very clearly that we didn’t eat meat and checked that none of the dishes would contain beef, pork or chicken, the pineapple dish came piled high with pork! Went here for Dinner cause I hadn’t tried Khao Soi yet and this was one of the first places that popped up. We were the only customers when we got there but it might have just been an odd time for dinner.

Ordered the Chicken Khao Soi and Chicken Pad Thai. Khao Soi was too spicy for me (cause I can’t eat spice) the bit I tried was absolutely delicious though. I ended up eating the Pad Thai which was super delicious as well and might have been the best Pad Thai I’ve had in Thailand so far.

Some of the places we wanted to try for Khao Soi ended up being closed, so we sort of stumbled across this place and the food was AMAZING and incredibly inexpensive. We spent three weeks in Thailand and this still stood out to us as a favourite by the end. Though it did take nearly an hour for our 4 meals to come, we had an awesome table outside the restaurant in the courtyard so we kept busy with people watching, listening to live music and enjoying the bustling atmosphere.
