Khun Kae's Juice Bar — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

I used to go to this place regularly. I noticed that they weren't using gloves and only accepted cash as payment, but this seemed to be the standard hygiene practice here in Thailand, so I didn't think much of it until I got food poisoned today. I vomited but fortunately started feeling better. However, I felt the need to contact the juice bar and inform them about what I believe was the cause.

When someone contacts you to say they got food poisoned, it's common to begin by expressing sympathy and showing that you take the feedback seriously. Unfortunately, this wasn't the response I received. Instead, the person started defending the place and assuring me that all the ingredients were fresh, etc. After receiving this response, I was quite shocked, to say the least. My initial thought was, if they don't take my feedback seriously, how can I ever go back to this place? After reading other people's comments, I realized that this wasn't the first time someone had gotten food poisoned at this establishment. 2025 update: still amazing!

A local (originally from Canada) recommended this great spot, citing its quality and great prices. And he was right on both counts.

They have a fantastic variety of smoothies, with a range of options leaning more to vegetables with another range leaning more to fruits.

We come here a lot and have worked through pretty much the entire menu. And we can say that every one of their smoothie options are delicious and great value for money. We also like the option to add bee pollen or protien shots to your smoothie. Under green smoothies we love #14 & #11, they’re fruity with a delicate veg background. #12 is awesome too, nutty, creamy and refreshing. #16 is an interesting and pleasant surprise. #13 is a tasty vegetable forward one.

Service is friendly, and they have lots of fans running to help cool you off as you enjoy your smoothie.

I don’t know how this place has got good reviews for juices, I would have rather went to any other juice stall. We ordered apple, ginger, lime juice and a beetroot, cucumber, apple, lime juice, also two ginger and turmeric shots. They were all awfully disgusting. The service was very poor. I could taste that the fruit hadn’t been cleaned or washed as my partner has a juicing business. it is 35° and the very least you expect is for a juice to be served cold, or at least be asked if you want it in a cup with ice. It came in a 200ml bottle for 60bht. I have had much better juices in chiang mai. I have now from a few sips of the juice got a funny belly, it was extremely busy and I feel like they were just chasing the money and had no consideration for customer satisfaction.
