Thapae East - live music bar — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

While the Jazz club in the north of the old city is packed, this bar goes under the radar for some reason. I almost don't want to write a review of this place so as not to give away this amazing secret. The bar is a small, tucked away music lovers paradise. While there are plenty of talented musicians all around Chiang Mai, here the musicians cut lose, not the same old Beatles covers and American rock songs. Visiting on Thapae East was the perfect choice that I had the last day in Chiang Mai. I was sad that it wasn’t able to hear the encore due to base issue. But, it made me the reason to come back to Chiang Mai! Well, thank you for your great performance, Rude Boy Charoen Prathet!! P.S. the singer you’ve jammed in the middle, he has his good vibe, however it seems he does not matches with reggae, but soft pop. I paid the entrance fee after being told that the performance would start at 8:30 PM, but they only played two songs and ended it. The guitar's tone had too much gain, making it sound like my ears were going to burst, and the tuning was off, with a monotonous sequence of power chords. The drums couldn't even keep a proper 4/4 beat. Even university bands playing as a hobby have better skills. I felt extremely disappointed and walked back to my accommodation.
