Overrated. Very expensive for what you get. I paid 4 times as much as any other place I've eaten at in Thailand and it was overall very unimpressive. I order an appetizer, Thai curry, rice and a smoothie. It's hard to mess up a smoothie and the presentation was very nice so no qualms there. However the appetizer (hot and sour soup) and the curry were the same mix of vegetables in slightly different spices. They tasted basically the same and both were rather bland except for being spicy. Fortunately my idea of medium spice level and theirs was on par so I was able to tolerate them. I was happy about that. However, they are both vegetable dishes and in neither were the vegetables fully cooked. I left half of each uneaten. B165 each for both of those, and another B45 for just rice.
They also told me they didn't have tables inside, which was OK because I wanted to sit outside. I got there early enough to have my pick of table and got one that I liked very much. The grounds are very nice and keep you tucked away so it is like a little paradise in the middle of this busy city. The staff were very polite, but in that way that makes one, at least me, uncomfortable. A big plus was that they brought out mosquito spray for us without asking. I wouldn't think to ask for them to provide something like that, so that was a big plus as I was starting to get a lot of bites.
My food was brought out pretty quickly (for better or worse, I'd say worse due to the above). After I refused the dessert menu, I was left sitting there for 5 minutes until I asked how did I pay When one of the staff walked by. They then brought me the check. This may just be a cultural thing where you need to ask for it, but I was eating alone and clearly finished. They tried to be very Western in most ways to cater to us foreigners, but not in this.
I liked the location and overall decor. The staff members were respectful, but I haven't had an experience with anyone in Thailand who wasn't. I was planning to go back before my dinner last night based upon the reviews, but will not. I like to be comfortable when I eat, and like to be able to eat everything I pay for. I'll find somewhere much more authentic...
Read moreThis place was suggested by a couple staying at our hotel. My husband and myself decided to go there since our hotel shuttle has a drop of close to this place. We went and loved the ambience and then saw the menu which served Thai and Indian food. We ordered some Thai food and it was good, no complaints. We ordered Indian food and the chicken tikka was just large cubes boiled and deep fried and some spices added. The tikka tasted like fast food chicken. The butter garlic nan was really tasteless two rotis stuck together with a little garlic inside. Being an Indian we know what is Indian food. We asked to see the manager or chef and according to them both too busy to meet customers. Any way we paid for the full order but left the Indian food without eating it.
I would not recommend this place if anyone is looking for authentic...
Read moreWe had a busy day and wanted to find a vegan sit down restaurant where we can relax. Walking distance from the Chiang Mai night bazaar, this is a great place to have dinner before spending the night out in the city. When we arrived, we had to leave our shoes downstairs before going into the restaurant so if you're not used to this, be prepared or bring socks. I believe they also offered slippers but it isn't necessary since the restaurant is really clean. The device is wonderful and they seemed to know how to speak English very well and were able to answer our questions. We ordered pad Thai, pumpkin curry, satay tempeh and mushroom larb. The tempeh was so surprisingly delicious it ended up being one of our favourite dishes. Also definately order their mixed drinks, all made with...
