Kata Noi Seafood&Restaurant — Restaurant in Karon

Hit and miss - I can see why reviews are wildly different for this restaurant. We went there twice and had a very different experience.

The first time we had the som tam papaya salad, a lemongrass and prawn salad - they were so spicy ( I asked for medium spicy) my lips and mouth were actually hurting from the pain. It was volcanic.

I could not taste much of the pla neung manao, our favorite steamed fish in lime sauce but it was all right.

The waitress was nice, tried to be helpful, gave us refreshing cold towels when we sat down, soft drinks came with ice but we still ended up with a not so great experience.

The next time we went back - no cold towels, had to ask for ice twice, the papaya salad was tasteless (I asked for low spicy) and the steamed fish was burried in garlic.

I concluded that because so many tourists eat Western food, most restaurants on Kata Noi do not employ good Thai chefs so it is quite difficult getting an authentic (no fusion) Thai meal.

It's a shame really but I guess it's a reflection of the demand. Why people come to Thailand but prefer to eat burgers and chips and lasagna instead of Thai food...

According to me and my husband, this is the best restaurant in Kata Noi. We visited it several times for dinner and once for lunch and everything was great. Extremely friendly staff, very fast service and they know English well. The wine is very nice, we tried pizzas, seafood and salads and we have no complaints. The portions are quite large and the prices absolutely correspond to the quality and weight. Don't be fooled by the lower prices of the neighboring Orchid restaurant, this one is many...

Food was great, I had the crab in peanut sauce, my wife got the cheese burger meal and overall no complaints with the food. Unfortunately, the service was horrible. It seemed every Russian group (3-4) were being tended to well and the front of house staff would gravitate towards them however left every other group to their own. We had to ask for a check a couple of times and when we tried to gain their attention for something else, we weren’t treated the same. Would not recommend...
