Saya Teppanyaki Phuket — Restaurant in Karon

We went in for some sushi and had high expectation with the price. The sushi rolls were cut in a horrific way and the salmon inside were still very cold. We had the kamikaze rolls also which was eels on rice - cut of the eel were super huge and chewy while it is supposed to be melting in the mouth. Then coming to the sashimi, we received off raw prawn and tuna cut that is also borderline non edible. We requested to change the prawns and luckily they did and offered as an apology some extra salmon and tuna sashimi. On the apology sashimi, the tuna was better quality but not the best. Sashimi is supposed to be served room temperature and it was very cold and seems not having time to defrost - because all the fish are frozen in this restaurant!!

In summary, this is a tourist trap for people that have no tastebuds and cannot distinguish good quality Japanese food and on top of that, very pricey for the quality and we waited at least 30 mins for 6 salmon sushi’s and the rest took also a bit of time to come.

The staff is so great but not all quest are nice and polite One Korean couple where on the mobil all the time and did not speak english so hard for staff to communicate, 😞 I have been coming to Katathani for more than 20 years and I feel this online review is the only one they management like look at - everyway we go the staff ask us to fill out and rember their name. Why is that? If I come again and again maybe 4 times every week for 13 weeks every highseason. I don't need to tell online that I am happy - just ask your staff in all your restaurants and bars if we are 😊 Everyone can just fill out online and it can all be not true, 😔 We know a lot of staff that had been here for more that 15 years Trust them they know what is good and katathani-style We know both the food and beveragemanagers khun packy and khun wichain so just ask them. We had the most amazing time celebrating my mother’s 70th birthday! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make the evening special. A huge thank you to the incredible team and the talented chef (Wasabi) – you truly made our night one to remember.

The service was warm, attentive, and perfectly timed throughout the evening. The food was absolutely outstanding – every dish was full of flavour, beautifully presented, and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone of all ages.
