Siam Smile Wine and Restaurant — Restaurant in Karon

I didn’t want to leave a bad review bc I love Thailand and don’t want to hurt anyone, however after such disrespect, I don’t think they deserve any grace. Possibly the worse Thai restaurant and service we’ve been to in Thailand. Everything was simply below average to inedible. We ordered masaman chicken but got lumps of rock hard beef instead. The waitress pretended to suddenly not understand English when we said why did we get the beef and not chicken simply “said u want chicken ok”. Brought over Curry with a huge chicken leg w a bone. I’ve been to Thailand 12x never in my life did I see a leg/thigh in a curry. Ordered crab curry, I just hope we don’t get food poisoning. Instead of crab meat, they scrambled eggs in the curry and tried to pass it off as crab. We ordered more horrible dishes, but I’m sure the point is well delivered. Siam Smile is right across one of Katathani Resort Phuket’s entrances so very accessible if you are at the resort. They offer a range of cuisines from Thai to western.

We went there for the Thai food and enjoyed it. Dishes included Tom Kha (coconut based soup), red curry, morning glory and mince fried with basil. All were good, including the mango sticky rice dessert.

The restaurant is lovely and well decorated. Going in the evening was pleasant as the temperature had lowered and there was some cool breeze. Lunch was a warm affair – okay for the adults but our young kids who are unaccustomed to the heat were not as comfortable. They did their best to place us near the fans for some cool relief and we appreciated that.

Stopped here for lunch after a beach day at Karon and we were not disappointed. My wife and I were still sandy and dressed in beach attire (the beach is virtually across the street) and who seemed like the owner/manager noticed and offered us to wash off with a hose if we wanted to and let us park our motorbike right in front as the parking spaces were all full. He obviously didn’t have to offer any of this, but he did and well never forget that. The restaurants is definitely tailored for Americans as the signs and music will tell you.
