It’s been years since I’ve had Mediterranean food. Back when I lived in U.S. there were many amazing Greek restaurants.
Helena Greek Kitchen is absolutely beautiful from the outside and all the way inside. Definitely a fine restaurant to visit with friends or a date.
Menu doesn’t offer as much, mostly seafood, vegetarian and chicken. Would’ve been cool to see more lamb dishes. The price is what you would expect, Greek food as always on expensive side.
What shocked me the most was the portion, it’s incredibly tiny like an entree disguised as appetizer. I got grilled fish kebab, squid basket and Greek red sangria.
Fish kebab has quail eggs on top with tomato, red onion and pita bread underneath. Fish patties taste really good, perfectly grilled. Quail eggs complement well together with pita bread. But it was so small, few bites and pretty much empty plate.
Squid basket. Fresh, soft calamari lightly fried, it was so delicious that I could cry. The basket was really small so the portion also as tiny. That’s another reason to cry over this dish.
Greek red sangria was tasty the amount of alcohol is fairly strong. Love it.
At the end of the meal, thanks to child portion food, I’m still hungry but didn’t want to break my wallet. Total bill plus inevitable 10% service charge was 990 baht.
Overall food was lovely but man, I surely miss hearty quality Greek food...
Read moreAs with their sister restaurant, there is ALWAYS a problem with the service.
It’s top-grade international food with MK style “service”.
Always an order wrong, delivery is always a mess, dishes never come out together, and “policy” supersedes accommodation or HOSPITALITY even in the most senseless of instances.
Today I wrote a review because I walked there, with my child, and arrived 3 minutes before their self-declared “siesta”.. with full kitchen and wait staff on duty and many tables still eating.. and was refused seating by the head waitress… despite being a regular at both locations.
Typical bottom rate Thai robotic service and no decent reply that constitutes what is a standard of service or sensible, compassionate, reasonable hospitality.. especially at their price points.
I’m really sick of their always being an issue at their restaurants.
And to be turned away with a child for no good reason (other than perhaps the sloth of their staff) is an insult, especially to a familiar face.
We won’t be going back to either any time soon.
There is plenty of good food in this city. No need to have to deal with...
Read moreI visited Helena after searching local reviews and suggested to my husband that we visit. We went in the early evening and were pleasantly surprised. It’s a good sized restaurant with both inside and outside seating. Internal decor has a mural looking like Greek houses on one walk and grass/straw hanging from the ceiling giving it a relaxed feeling. Lighting is good and the service was welcoming. Food wise there’s a good choice of dishes and chatting later to the owner we found they’re relatively new and still tuning menus to local tastes, however I must say the food was very good. The hummus paired with fried caramelized onions and mushrooms was exquisite, it came with warm fresh made pita bread and some dips which were delicious. We also tried some other dishes, which were good. Their house sangria is fresh and good and their mint frappe was also great. Later we tried their baclava which was paired with a mint and cinnamon tea, where the cinnamon taste went incredibly well with the pistachio in the baclava. A great restaurant and lovely experience. We will for sure be back again....
