Had my hair colored elsewhere, in Chiang Rai nonetheless, not a blonde hair Mecca, as the thousand photos on our IG show, my hair is down to my low back, so in good condition. Unfortunately i had brown roots at our collaboration with the Siam and THANKFULLY a salon in CHIANG RAI was able to do the SIMPLE highlights and low lights I’ve literally had done on every continent but Antarctica for 20+ years before our FS Tented Camp collaboration!!

The hills LITERALLY SAID they cannot do light blonde toner, so NOT related to condition!!

We made an appointment for a full head of highlights and lowlights with the Hills between our collaborations with the Mandarin Oriental and the Siam here in Bangkok, as they said they do blonde Western hair.

My boyfriend got the date one off, so we came in a day early and they acted as though it was the right appointment (likely because of not great English speaking; I used Google translate for absolutely everything to ensure no miscommunication but it did not help much, almost as though they didn’t even read the Thai translation), but then said the alleged technician could not do lowlights, so I needed to come back the next day (45 minute taxi ride each way). This was frustrating but it turned out to not be the right day as my boyfriend had actually made the appointment for the following day, so not their fault. They did examine my hair at the time and say that the technician coming in the next day would be able to do highlights and low lights for me, so frustratingly, planned to return one day later, even though we had arranged the entire day around going to the hair salon (and my hair was very dirty as I did not bother washing it if going to the salon).

Fast forward to the next day, and I go in, and it turns out that despite seeing a million photos of my blonde hair on our hobby Instagram (with 250k followers with which we collaborate with luxury hotels as a hobby), seeing me the day prior, assuring us that they could do blonde hair, they then say that they CANT do light blonde. I kept using Google translate to try to speak to them, and they kept reading the English version, ignoring the Thai, so it literally was going in circles. “So you can’t do blonde hair?” “Yes.” “So you CANT do blonde hair?” “Yes.” I had also explained to them exactly what is always done to my hair, all over the world, for the last literal 20 years, how it must be toned, lifts brassy, volume of bleach used, even Google imaging toner for them when they did not seem to understand anything (to Thai on Google translate). I showed them pictures of my own hair, saying I wanted that done, 2 highlights to every lowlight, ashy blonde with medium brown lowlights, so on and so forth and nothing seemed to make sense to them. They showed me a small selection of blonde hair strips and I kept explaining, via Google translate, that I can pick one out but it will not lift like that and must be toned (again, translated and also used Google imagine, it all really seemed to confuse them).

Ultimately, they said they cannot do light blonde hair (and judging from the exchange, and other patrons both days, no westerners or blondes, I suspect they can only do very rudimentary basically box color on blondes; the photos they showed me from Instagram the first day were just all over monotone medium blonde, which I explained no I don’t want, hence coming back the following day, allegedly for highlights and low lights).

We now have literally one day before our collaboration with the Siam, I wanted it colored before that, and instead am stuck with filthy hair with root grow out and no remaining lowlights as they always fade quickly, having driven 45 minutes back and forth wasting 2 days for no reason. CANT do blonde hair, dont speak English, and now have left me screwed with no time to find elsewhere being too late today to get in anywhere, so I will show up to take photos at the Siam with uncolored hair all thanks to them.

They did not apologize for wasting our time or screwing me...

If you have curly hair AVOID this place. They have no experience on different textures of hair. They told me they could do an organic keratin treatment and I was so excited to find a professional salon with a good reputation in all of Bangkok. They made so many excuses, though, when I walked through the door. First, they were afraid that it would not straighten my hair. But as you know, keratin solidifies your curls and does not change your hair like a relaxer. I wanted to keep my original texture and add a keratin treatment. Easy right? No. They agreed then said my hair was too much. I understand in Thai what the girls were saying "my hair was too much and too big." They were afraid to touch it. Even after me saying "Please go ahead it does not hurt!" So they were afraid and I didn't want anyone touching my hair who is afraid to get their hands dirty. Next, we agreed on just a keratin bonding conditioner, wash and blow-dry. That didn't go well either. Everyone knows that you have to detangle while the hair is wet (curly hair people). I thought they knew a special way to detangle or added a product in my hair where we did not have to detangle with a special brush. After all, they are the professionals. I should trust them right? I should have known better. After the wash, they had two women try to blow dry at the same time :( They could not get through the hair from root to tip and gave up. They claimed my hair was shedding. Of course it is! You did not untangle it after conditioning! And everyone's hair sheds. So many excuses! I knew then that this was a bad choice and really wanted to snatch the dryers out of their hands and do it myself. It's simple if you have training. They did not section my hair into parts or anything. Where is the training? Then, they had a lady trim it who trimmed less than a millimeter off. I was ready to go home at that time. So I said "that's good" and went to pay. They charged me 3000 bath!!! For what? I walked out with the same hair as walking in. Ladies, choose wisely. This is a warning. I do not want you to end up like me. It is baffling that a high-end salon is not aware of the basics on how to treat multiple hair types. When I find a good salon I stick with it and tip generously because my hair is NOT (1A) hair. It requires love, support and...

Booked for two people at 5:00pm. Paid a deposit in advance. Called at 3:30pm to check if we could come earlier and was told we could not and had to still come at 5:00pm due to bookings. Arrived at 4:50pm and was told to go upstairs where the lady did not appear to know why we were there. We were subsequently sent to sit at at the cutting area, where the hairdresser wasn’t sure what was happening, as he was already cutting 2 other people. They then sent us to the washing area and then asked us whether we have booked. Upon confirming, they still were unsure as to why we were there and told us to take a seat before the lonely hairdresser told us to go downstairs. All this time we were made to mix with other customers cutting their hair. The point of having segregated times for booking was to avoid or at least minimise covid risk. It seemed clear to us that they had double booked somehow or made a mistake. Upon being asked to go downstairs, the lady downstairs could not find our booking. We then showed her our line chat confirming the booking and transfer of deposit. She simply said she could do nothing about it and stated that we had to wait until 6:00pm upon checking with the hairdresser. She also stated that the admin team did not confirm with them and that the admin team is not based at the shop. This is despite us calling at 4:00pm. We then tried to call the admin team again to clear matters up and were told to simply wait. In the end, at 5:20pm, we were told that we had to be separated, compelling my partner to do her nails (for no reason) whilst I waited for the two customers to finish before being able to cut my hair first alone. I also can not speak thai so this is additionally frustrating. All in all, a very poor experience thus far for a supposedly high end hair salon. Very disappointed, and hoping things don’t get worse after I wash my hair. No explanation or apology also.

Edit: To make things, they gave me the same apron as the gentleman before who just finished and also made me sit on a chair which had not even been cleaned with a dirty tissue left on the table.

So much for covid protection. Absolutely shocking and very poor.

No wonder there are increasingly more negative reviews...
