Yup down the rabbit hole I went!
-Such a lovely environment where there is barely any light except for some candles and spot lights š but for me that was perfect because it brings your attention and focus entirely to the drink and the bartenders.
I had maybe 10 drinks in total across 2 days? I ordered their signature cocktails, based on the capitals of 16 countries, each inspired by the flavours and experiences of the country it represents. It's like a cocktail passport where you visit each country though flavours expertly concocted by the bartenders. I couldn't pick out a favourite because each cocktail is significantly unique and stood out in their own way. Like how Seoul captured the essence of kimchi or how Beijing paired with the chive or spring onion garnish (I can't rmb š ), feels like I'm drinking alcoholic peking duck wrap. So if you feel like having a voyage with booze and flavours as your vessel, please try it out you won't be disappointed ! The garnishes were interactive too! One bite garnish followed by one sip.
What really sealed the deal for me was the interaction with one of the bartenders. I didn't get her name but from the conversations, she showed immense passion and eloquence which made the entire experience more memorable. She explained each drink thoughtfully which helped me enjoy each cocktail to their fullest potential. So if you see this, thank you! And I hope next time when I visit, I'll see Singapore added to the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy experience left a lot to be desired. First, letās talk about the basics: the cocktails. They were average at bestānothing that justified the hefty price tag or stood out as exceptional.
What really soured the experience was the service and attention to detail. When my bill came to 1012.22 THB, I handed over 2000 THB. Instead of rounding up to simplify the transaction, they returned only 987 THB, shorting me by 0.78 THB. I donāt care about the less than 1baht change but itās the kind of petty approach that makes you question the priorities of the establishment. I canāt help but feel that if I didnāt have exact change for the 22, they would have been annoyed, which added an unnecessary layer of discomfort to an already underwhelming experience.
For anyone looking for a truly enjoyable night out in Bangkok, skip The Rabbit Hole and head to Lost in Thaislation. The vibe there is far more welcoming, and the bartenders treat customers with genuine respect and attention. Plus, the cocktails are crafted with more care and creativity, making it worth every baht.
In short, The Rabbit Hole lacks the charm and customer care that Bangkokās cocktail scene is known for. There are far better options for a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a speakeasy, the main entrance is not too challenging. (But this is about the only disappointment I found with this place.) This is a cool-looking bar with its chic-retro decor, yet it allows patrons to comfortably chill out with its music and ambience. One other mini shortcoming is its bathroom, which is located on the third floor. So be prepared to climb some stairs when it is time to hit the loo. The bartender who served us is quite friendly. (He even gave me a double shot of whisky when I ordered a single.) The bartender also regularly burn some incense for aroma if that is your thing. And the cocktails are generally quite good (but I am no connoisseur), with their signature Cry Me the Moon being my friend's favourite. I've no idea why this place is called Rabbit Hole, apart from the little bunny pins on the bartenders' vests. If it is up to me, I would definitely name it Drawers! š (Check out the decor and you will know...
